DIY: Make Your Own Pumpkin Stand

August 31, 2015~ DIY DREAM HOUSE

This post is sponsored by The Home Depot.

I am so excited to share a tutorial on how to make your own pumpkin stand. After every project I complete for The Home Depot DIH Workshop, I get such a feeling of accomplishment and pride! I hope you get inspired to attend the DIH Workshop to make your own or even make one at home! This one was the easiest project out of all the projects I made, you can check out my other projects here.

AFTER:

This project was so easy and fun to make! I was really scared to use the jigsaw for the first time but I got the hang of it and it was actually fun cutting out the curve of the pumpkin. I usually know instantly what designs I want my end result to look like, whether it is with sewing or with DIY projects like this one, and I knew I wanted to paint the pumpkin a darker orange and dip part of the pumpkin in gold on the bottom, and I got so excited thinking about it! And it turned out just the way I had imagined so I am so happy with it. It’s also gotten me excited for fall, sweaters, boots, hot chocolate and two of my favorite Holidays — Halloween and Thanksgiving!
I served my peach ice-cream shake on the pumpkin stand when I had my parents over for dinner and they didn’t believe me when I told them I made the stand! Haha, they thought Jay made it. I’ve come a long way with making projects myself, and just like sewing, you get better the more you do it!
You can make the pumpkin stand using the instructions below or make it a girls night and take your girlfriends to a free workshop at your nearby Home Depot. The Home Depot’s DIH Workshop is held every third Thursday of each month and in September, they’ll be making this pumpkin stand. They’ll have supplies and tools all ready for you and you’ll get to take home the finished product! While the workshop is free to attend, you do need to purchase the materials. Refashion Runway DIY: Oversized Dress-suit to an Asymmetrical Dress

August 29, 2015~ REFASHION RUNWAY, SEWING

As we come to a close of this wonderful competition of Refashion Runway, I’d like to thank Beth for hosting and answering my endless emails. I was probably the most high-maintenance contestant with my incessant emails! But she was always so quick to respond and patient in answering each of my questions. I think she’s going to really miss my emails after this is over, right Beth? 😉

Okay, now let’s look at my last challenge, the Asymmetrical Challenge, shall we?

DIY: Vintage Wedding Dress to a Cocktail Dress

August 22, 2015~ REFASHION RUNWAY, SEWING

I found this gorgeous wedding dress at a thrift store. Sure, it’s outdated and not within the time of what’s in style right now, but I can see why a certain lovely bride fell in love with this dress and wore it to her wedding! I am sure she looked absolutely stunning in this dress and I felt a little bad(?) as I cut into this dress and made it into something different.

DIY: Outdated, Oversized, Faded Yellow Dress Suit to a Red Peplum Dress

August 15, 2015~ REFASHION RUNWAY, SEWING

Outdated yellow dress to a red peplum dress
Hello guys! For Refashion Runway challenge 4, we were to make a maxi skirt or a dress.
I got this really outdated, oversized, faded yellow dress suit from a thrift store. I am still in love with peplum design clothes, I think peplums are so flattering on many body types as it accentuates the waist-to hips ratio and by helping to make your waist look slimmer. After debating whether to dye this dress to a mint color or red, I decided to go with red since I’ve always wanted a red peplum dress.

Fringe Tote bag DIY
Hello everyone! This week’s challenge was the most difficult and challenging week for me. I’ve never made a handbag/purse/clutch of any kind before and had no idea what I was going to make. I thought oh, I have almost a week to decide and make it, then the day before our family’s trip, I realized I didn’t have all week to turn it in, I needed to turn it in before I leave on our trip! So I had one day to figure it out and make it and submit this post, but I made it guys, WHEW! And I am very happy with how it turned out!
