Instagram Husband

December 9, 2015~ Etc.

Have you guys seen this video? If you haven’t, you need to watch it, it is hilarious! Several months ago my friend and I talked about making a video making fun of bloggers and these guys beat us to it!
Instagram husband? What’s that? This is the face he gave me as soon as I held my phone up to take a photo. You think he was just playing & stopped soon after to allow me to take a “picture perfect” photo? Nope, he kept giving me this face as long as I held my phone in front of them.😓 He’s the opposite of an Instagram husband and would never let me turn into those girls, nor would I dare to pull any of those moves on him, for the fear and the endless wrath of his mockery. So where are all my wives of the anti-Instagram husbands?🙋🏻
Fortunately, I have a husband who keeps me grounded and only takes 2 pictures at a time and I can only ask him to take photos maybe in 2 settings max when we go somewhere. Sometimes I wish he was more like these Instagram husbands who put up with their wives! He does not wait until I take pictures of the food, for more than literally 10 seconds, after I ask him for the second time to take a picture for me at any given day, he’ll say, “Okay, this is the last one I take, then you gotta put your camera away.” He’d laugh at me so hard if I stood on the chair to take food photos or ran around with my flag, that I don’t dare ever try to take photos like that! Haha. But I think those Instagram husbands are great and I still think my husband is pretty great too. Thanks for keeping me grounded, hun!

Christmas Kickoff Party

December 7, 2015~ Etc.

We started a new family tradition(thanks to Eden for the inspiration), which is to have a Christmas kickoff party! We get out our Christmas tree and decorate while listening/dancing to Christmas classics, then read Luke 2 together about the birth of Jesus and then eat fresh out of the oven homemade cookies & milk.
The kids have accidentally hurt me pretty bad the past two days; hitting my eye with a stick, jump roping and smacking my face, leaving cupboards open, causing a bruise on my nose, and then tonight as we were decorating the tree, one of the kids was swinging a flashlight and smacked it hard right on the back on my head. I got angry and said, “My goodness, why do you guys keep hurting me lately? It hurts so bad! You need to be more aware of other people in your surroundings, it’s not just you that live in this world, the world does NOT revolve around you. Be considerate of other people!” Right when I was done talking, my 8 yr, old daughter says to me, “Wow, mom, wow. What a JOLLY Christmas.”
I was still angry but it melted as I realized how I was so excited to start this happy Christmas tradition and here I am yelling and lecturing at my kids, ruining the Christmas spirit. I started to laugh and then we all did and we made up with kisses and hugs and it indeed ended up being a JOLLY Christmas after all.
p.s. my son was not happy we wouldn’t let him eat the cookie he snatched until the end. haha
p.p.s. I want to post more about family on my blog. So expect more family posts from me!

Our Star Wars Halloween Costumes

November 16, 2015~ Etc., FAMILY

I die at my dog’s costume, isn’t it awesome??? And I wish they had Queen Amidala in my size!
Halloween was fun for me when I was at the age to go trick or treating. But after I was 14 years old and my friends and I stopped going trick or treating, it wasn’t as fun! We didn’t hit cool Halloween parties(there weren’t that many parties in Utah growing up), we would just end up passing out candies at one of our friend’s house, eat snacks and watch a scary movie. Then we would all get too scared to go home so we ended up squishing in a queen size bed, the 4 or 5 of us.
But after we had kids, Halloween is so much fun again!!! Because I get to, I mean, the kids get to go trick or treating and I mean I HAVE to go with them to make sure they’re safe, you know? Then afterwards when they’re asleep, Jay and I get our candy tax, the best part of Halloween!

Mondays at the library

May 9, 2014~ Etc.

*my outfit detail: jacket: anthropologie | striped ruffle top | jeans: nordstrom | boots: ralph lauren via macy’s
Every Monday night we have family home evening.  We spend time as a family that usually involves praying, singing, simple lesson of the gospel of Jesus Christ, playing games, and finishing off with a delicious dessert.  Often times we go do a family activity like make & take craft nights at our local library.  Every Monday night they have cute crafts the kids can make and our kids love it!  After making their crafts, Jay got super excited finding some of his favorite books he was read to when he was a little, such as The Story about Ping, A fish out of the Water, and The Five Chinese Brothers.  It was so cute seeing Jay reading excitedly to the children when we got home for bedtime.

Interview with Blickenstaff’s

February 11, 2014~ Etc.

One Saturday morning a few weeks ago, I woke up with Aiden and was nursing him when my husband came to the bedroom and said, “Uh, hun? There are some people at the door saying they’re here to interview and take pictures?”  “Oh, crap!” was my reply as I remembered Blickenstaff was coming to interview and take photographs of our family to be featured on their website.  We had it scheduled a few weeks in advance for them to come to take photos and interview our family but I totally forgot about it!  Mom brain is a real thing, people!  I skipped and hopped over my closet and the bathroom and tried to get ready as fast as I can while Jay got ready too and made sure the kids looked presentable.  Me on the other hand, I hadn’t showered in 3 days, my hair was so greasy and matted, I had just woken up not long before, I was not camera ready to say the least!  I quickly got dressed and tried to look decent(I couldn’t find my make up bag but I found a really old eyeliner and lipstick on the back of the bathroom drawer, so that had to do).  We got ready in less than 7 minutes.  It was our family record.
These are the pictures from that Saturday morning.
Photographs by Aria Photography.
My favorite part of the interview was when the interviewer asked my 6 year old daughter, “So do you have any funny stories that happened recently?” and my daughter replied, “When my daddy dressed like a girl in my mommy’s dress and Rapunzel wig and acted like a girl.”  To read the story behind that and for the full interview, click here.
We love Blickenstaff’s(possibly the coolest toy/candy store ever) and I think it’s awesome they’re emphasizing on the importance of family traditions and values.  Thanks for having us Blickenstaff’s!
