camping

June 27, 2013~ Etc.

We went camping for one night with our friends and their two kids.  Everyone was telling me how brave I was for going camping at 8 months pregnant, and I thought, what’s the big deal?  It won’t be so bad… but once we got there, WHAT WAS I THINKING? was what I was thinking throughout the trip.  Our group made quiet the pair with our friend having a leg boot and limping his every step while I’m on the side wobbling around with my giant belly.

the farthest Achilles got in the water.  this boy hates getting wet!
I love eavesdropping on their conversations, little kids talk about the cutest things.

We had a ton of fun but it did take us a full day to recover. We decided that camping’s not worth it unless you go for at least 2 days with all the packing, setting up, planning and the time you put into it.  So I can’t wait to go camping a lot next Summer, especially with our little son!

All you need is a light jacket

October 10, 2012~ Etc.

{beige sweater: c/o sheinside | leggings: h&m | scarf: gifted | boots: ?(old)}
The weather’s been perfect lately, it’s not too cold, it’s not too hot, all you need is a light jacket!(I love that movie).  It’s especially perfect for bike rides, which we’ve been doing plenty of lately.
Now onto the utmost important matter, so you see those two poles in the last picture?  Did I ever tell you how Jay was running with our dog Achilles late one night and he didn’t see the poles so he ran into one of the poles at full speed and shattered his kneecap?  And they were going FAST.  Poor Achilles ran into the other pole too and they both moaned and groaned and while Achilles only had a little mark on his head, Jay had bruises & scratches all over from falling afterwards.  It’s kind of sad, but it’s really funny now.  My only regret is it wasn’t caught on video tape!  Think of how great of a video it would’ve made!  I know what I’m buying Jay for Christmas this year, those helmets with an attached flash light.  Those are so sexy.   And think of how awesome it’d be if every jogger/runner wore those on the streets!

Before papa went back home

August 31, 2012~ Etc.

{Polka dot pleated dress: Double Zero | Red bow tie shoes: ? {really old} |
Color block Handbag: c/o Brahmin}
The night before papa left, we went to Nickelcade which is one of our favorite spots.  Then after we ate dinner and put the girls to bed, we played Settlers of Catan.  And guess who won…
And guess what I found the next morning on our bathroom mirror…
 It says:
“SETTLERS CHAMP
JAY
2-0!!!
TOP THAT”
And yes, he’s quoting the song from Teen Witch, one of the greatest movies.  Here’s the song to refresh your memory(if you haven’t seen it, you must!).
Jay, I don’t really give about that, so TOP THAT!!! (okay actually, I really do give about that, I’m so mad I lost! but I will conquer next time, just wait and see Mr.!)
Hope you have a great Labor Day weekend!  Mine will be spent practicing those awesome moves.  Top that. 😉

Camping

August 28, 2012~ Etc.

the girls made a new friend
making tin foil dinner
no one dares to bother ana while she’s eating her marshmallows
making orange chocolate cake.  it is soooo good!
achilles snatched one while it was cooling and then acted like he’s all innocent
a lovely shot of achilles
We went camping at the Payson Lake, and it’s been one of our favorite camping sites so far. Well, besides the fact that they don’t have running toilets. The lake is beautiful and we plan on going back with a little boat to ride in next time. Once we got to the camping site, we realized Ana never put on her shoes because she was wearing the pajama onesie and we just assumed she put her shoes on!  So we carried her around a lot.  Next time, that’ll definitely be on our checklist, to make sure our kids have their shoes on.

Jesa

August 6, 2012~ Etc.

We had Jesa, a ceremony practiced in Korean tradition of remembering our ancestors on the anniversary of their passing.  We have it every year for my grandparents, and what we do is we put up pictures of them and set up a table full of food for them to partake, and bow to them and remember them, even though they’re no longer with us.  Of course we don’t really believe they eat the food we prepare for them, but we do believe their spirits come down and visit us and are grateful for us taking the time to prepare the food with love, and know that we still think of them.  This is one of the things I love about the Korean tradition, which is remembering and honoring our ancestors.
