Our Family Halloween Costumes

October 31, 2018~ FAMILY

We do a family costume every year ever since we had our first child. see 2016, 2015, 2014, 2013, 2012. This might sound crazy but I cannot for the life of me remember what we dressed up as last year? I looked through my blog posts and can’t find any posts! Then I realized, my dad passed away 2 months before Halloween and it’s been a blur for about 3-4 months after he passed away so I am not that surprised after all. Anyone remember what we were? LOL(I hate typing LOL but I use it all the time).

We almost didn’t dress up as a family this year because all of my kids wanted to be something completely different from each other. My oldest wanted to be a warrior, my second daughter a Greek goddess and my youngest wanted to be a baby chick. I almost caved in but then I sat them down and told them how much it meant to be to dress up as a family and they’re getting older, with my oldest almost in Jr. High and she wouldn’t want to dress up as a family then so I need at least this year for all of us to dress up as a family. And that they can dress up whatever they want next year, but that I was not ready to let this stage go yet this year. They understood and were so sweet and immediately agreed.

So here is our costumes for 2018! It might just be our last year which breaks my heart! But maybe I will make all of our costumes again next year if they agree to do a family costume? We will see!

We are obviously the characters from The Beauty and the Beast! Halloweencostumes.com was kind enough to provide our costumes. They make exclusive costumes too just for their site like my French feather duster costume, I told my kids I didn’t want to dress up as The Beauty and the Beast theme since what would I be? I didn’t want to be the clock or the Prince! But then I saw this costume and I changed my mind and agreed to do this theme.

We were rushing the morning of the photo shoot and totally forgot to bring our dog Achilles to our family shoot, we felt so bad!

MY PYROMANIAC

July 5, 2018~ FAMILY

Jay’s love for pyromania started a long before he started buying fireworks for the 4th of July in the year 2014. Tell me if I’m wrong but it seems every guy I know that’s from Hawaii LOVES fireworks. So growing up there his whole life and making memories with his dad and his 2 brothers who loves fireworks just as much as he does and and setting them off every year for the 4th and for new year’s, a true pyromaniac was born.

So shall we take a memory lane of Jay’s collection of fireworks since 2014?

2014

2015
2016
2017

This is the year the fire truck even came to check up on us.

And the performer was right at the punch line of telling a joke when our fireworks went off and he totally lost his line! So crazy.

2018

This year the Stadium of Fire hired a guy to come watch us for the whole 4 hours we were lighting up, to make sure nothing we had was illegal!

He walked back and forth the whole time and said, “See you next year!” Haha, I don’t think the Stadium of Fire likes us since we distract them from their show!

HOLD UP. Do you notice a pattern here? Look at the 2014 photo. That’s the amount of fireworks a normal person would get for the 4th. But then keep scrolling and gradually, his pile gets larger and larger!!! Take a deep breathe, Sarah, just breathe. My husband is crazy.

“We will do one more and then do a finale.” Jay said to me right before starting this round. “Wait, what? THIS is not a finale?” I said. Jay’s fireworks even made it on the news because Ryan Tedder from One Republic kept making comments about it.

“Frontman Ryan Tedder repeatedly commented on the spontaneous fireworks seen outside the sold-out LaVell Edwards Stadium on Wednesday night, saying Provo has the most fireworks he has ever seen on the Fourth of July in any city.

“Utah’s been … hands down one of my favorite places on Earth to visit. … You’ve got mountains, you have permanent fireworks apparently happening at all times,” Tedder told the crowd. “Whoever’s spending half a million dollars on the fireworks for us personally, thank you.”

You can read the full article here.

And the Stadium of Fire hired a guy to come monitor us for 4 hours to make sure the fireworks we were shooting were not illegal. Then he said as he left, ‘See you next year!”

FATHER’S DAY

June 27, 2018~ FAMILY

He’s the kind of a husband that lets me nap for 3 hours on Father’s Day. You’d think it was Mother’s Day today.
He’s the kind of a husband that does most of the laundry, washes my car every weekend, starts cleaning & helping the moment he steps inside the house after work and says this is how he winds down, watches the kids better than I do, and instead of getting the “I don’t know how you do it… you moms are Superheroes.” when I come back from a trip(that’s all I ever wanted to hear!), he says, “It went great, we went swimming, camping, made a chore chart, and I deep cleaned the whole entire house. Hard? Nah, It was pretty easy!”

He’s the kind of a father that wants nothing more than “cuddle coupons” from the kids as a present, then makes numerous copies of the said coupon.
He’s the kind of a father that dresses up/talks like a girl when the girls say only girls are allowed to play with them, or stays up ‘till 1 a.m making tooth fairy doors, makes sure the Easter Bunny & the Tooth Fairy visits every time, does treasure hunts on a random Saturday morning just for fun but doesn’t let me take photos or post it anywhere because he says, “I didn’t do this for your blog.” He’s the kind of a man that is honest, noble, hard working, fun, sensitive, loyal, protective, and sweet. So so so sweet. He might look like a big, tough dad but he is the most tender-hearted and we know we got him wrapped around his little finger.

To the dad who spoils us, protects us, and always supports us, we look up to you so much. Happy Father’s Day to you @jaystory9!

Our Star Wars Halloween Costumes

November 16, 2015~ Etc., FAMILY

I die at my dog’s costume, isn’t it awesome??? And I wish they had Queen Amidala in my size!
Halloween was fun for me when I was at the age to go trick or treating. But after I was 14 years old and my friends and I stopped going trick or treating, it wasn’t as fun! We didn’t hit cool Halloween parties(there weren’t that many parties in Utah growing up), we would just end up passing out candies at one of our friend’s house, eat snacks and watch a scary movie. Then we would all get too scared to go home so we ended up squishing in a queen size bed, the 4 or 5 of us.
But after we had kids, Halloween is so much fun again!!! Because I get to, I mean, the kids get to go trick or treating and I mean I HAVE to go with them to make sure they’re safe, you know? Then afterwards when they’re asleep, Jay and I get our candy tax, the best part of Halloween!

family pictures

November 16, 2010~ FAMILY

we took our family pictures a couple weeks ago. and can i just say it was one of the saddest days since i’ve been married? it started pouring rain the moment we started to take pictures, my husband and i got in a fight while changing for our 2nd outfit in the car, i started crying and with the rain not stopping but getting even more heavy, i cried some more and didn’t even bother to get out of the car while i just told my husband to tell the photographer we were done and went home. our poor photographer.

all that time i put into outfit planning, headbands/necklaces i stayed up late the night before making for my little girls, not even getting a chance to put on our 2nd outfit…our photographer commuting from salt lake to take just 10 mins. worth of pictures…went to waste. when i think about it it makes me sad all over again. do your husbands HATE/ABHOR taking pictures of any kind? SIGH. at least these pictures were before all that. and pardon my moses parting the red sea. the rain did that to me. (i’m talking about my bangs.)

ariana with her signature smile. photos taken by shedaisy photography. she took these for only 10 mins. due to our unfortunate circumstance but i think she did a wonderful job. thanks for the beautiful photos! and also, the rain stopped about an hour later and was sunny and calm the rest of the day.  talk about perfect timing.
