I WAS FEATURED IN PEOPLE

July 12, 2017~ PRESS, SEWING

I still need to publish a blog post of part 2 of all the places I’ve been featured in(see part one here) but the biggest feature has been when People.com featured me, which I gained over 25,000+ followers from on my Instagram and 8,000 FB followers in just 2 days. It was insane! My brother recently found out about the feature and was like, “Did you blog about it? Or email the family to let us know?” Which I had not, so here it is, Joe!

People.com

The morning show was shown live on People’s FB page(shown at 21:46)

People Facebook Page(4.3 million views, 9253 shares, 1.2k comments and 40k likes!)

People on Instagram

I couldn’t help but crack up at their feature on their Instagram page, there’s Beyonce, Kate Middleton and Prince William, Jennifer Gardner, Kim Kardashian, and then wait, who is this random girl? She’s not a celebrity! Hahaha. 😀

No, I’m not pregnant. I did tell my husband I was willing to have one more baby just yesterday and he said to me, “Nah, I’m good.” Hahaha.

But I have been picked as one of the top 100 videos to be entered into the Next Big YouTuber contest! It’s a YouTube conference held next month(my 1st YouTube conference, I’m so excited) where annually they pick who they think will be the next big YouTuber. There will be 6 finalists from 6 categories:

  • Comedy/entertainment
  • Vlog
  • Fashion/beauty
  • DIY/education
  • Music
  • Gaming

And from the finalists from the 6 categories, the celebrity judges will pick one final winner. The winner will win $1000 cash, video equipment(I need better equipment to make better videos!), and awesome collaboration and press opportunities. I really want to win so I’d love 5 seconds of your time to vote!

DIY: HOW TO MAKE A SHORT DRESS LONGER

July 7, 2017~ SEWING

Welcome to Refashion Revision where I take outdated clothes and turn it into new. I’m Sarah and I’ve been refashioning for 10 years on my blog but decided to start a YouTube channel in early 2017. If you enjoy my videos, please click the subscribe button!

This week I am showing you a detailed tutorial on one of the techniques I use to make a shorter dress longer. I literally worked on this dress 10 mins. Before our 4th of july party started so I could wear it to the party.

What you’ll need:

  • A short dress
  • A strip of fabric(mine is 1/8 of a yard)
  • Thread
  • Scissors
  • *Fray check(optional)

Estimated time: 20 minutes
Budget: $30
Skill level: A beginner

So the goal for this DIY was to lengthen it without being able to tell, so it looks like it was this way, if you didn’t know I added the extra fabric on the bottom, would you have noticed? Let me know in the comments!

Let’s compare the before and the after.

DIY | 4th of JULY INSPIRED WOMEN’S SHIRT REFASHION

June 24, 2017~ SEWING

Welcome to Refashion Revision, a show where I take outdated clothes and update it into new. In this episode, I will be transforming my two XS shirts I had in my closet that I never wear, into cute 4th of July theme tops for my two girls.

BEFORE:
My memory card is fried so I couldn’t retrieve the before photos of my girls wearing my shirts, but here are photos of my daughter wearing the same shirt back in 2014. It was a lot bigger on her then. I bought 2 of the same exact shirts and made a dress for her in 2014. See the post here. And with the other shirt, decided to make it into a top for her now since I’ve never worn the shirt.
screenshots from my video, this is how it fits her now. She’s grown so much in 3 years! Sniff sniff.
AFTER

What you’ll need:
  • shirt
  • ribbon
  • thread
  • seam ripper
  • scissors
  • fray check* (optional)

Project cost: $4 for ribbon

Estimated time: 100 mins. for each shirt

Skill level: Intermediate

Thank you to those that voted which color of ribbon I should use on my instastory, I thought about matching the red gingham top with red ribbons but I ended up choosing navy blue because I thought the contrast made it stand out more and also gave it a more 4th of July feel. What do you think of my choice? Do you wish I used a red ribbon instead? Let me know in the comments!
