Even though this refashion DIY is like my 142nd, this is my very first video episode of Vintage Refashion! I am trying to make sewing my priority so there will be many more to come and I am trying to grow my YouTube channel, so I’d love for you to subscribe and tell your friends! You can subscribe here: http://youtube.com/sarahtyau

For this episode I bought a XL light yellow dress from The Salvation Army Family Store for $4.99 and turned it into a form fitting waist-tie dress. I feel this is a simple transformation and not an elaborate one, and I chose this because I see many dresses like this at thrift stores and thought it could be more relatable, so that you could do this too, unlike other vintage dresses you find that’s one of a kind. I had a vision of the after within seconds of looking at the dress at the store and it turned out exactly the way I envisioned. I got another epic yellow dress from there that you just have to stay tuned to see in the near future!

I have to thank you for all the support you show me of my sewing projects, the encouraging comments on my blog, Instagram, Facebook, emails, and DM's. They assure me that this is what I need to focus on, to focus on doing my best and not anything else. So thank you!

And I didn’t know this, but did you know that The Salvation Army funds the largest no cost adult rehabilitation program in the U.S? You can show your support by donating gently used clothes, furniture, household appliances and automobiles. They are then resold to the general public, which help fund more than 150 adult rehabilitation centers around the country that help more than 320,000 people each year. Program beneficiaries receive a clean and healthy living environment, work therapy, group and individual counseling, spiritual direction and numerous resources to help them develop life skills and and a personal relationship with God. Say what? So cool!!! I am just a huge nerd that loves these kinds of things – organizations that do good.

SEWING ROOM MAKEOVER

May 30, 2016~ SEWING

Until just today, my sewing room consisted of a table in my bedroom with plethora of fabric and junk scattered on the table, under the table, mixed with my clothes in my closet, all over the floor. IT WAS GETTING OUT OF CONTROL. So I decided to dedicate part of our movie room/living room in our basement to a sewing room! I’ve always dreamed of having my own sewing room and I am so happy with it! Are you ready to see it?

REFASHION DIY: XXL MAXI DRESS TO A JUMPSUIT

March 14, 2016~ SEWING

I am excited to share with you this tutorial on how to make a maxi dress into a jumpsuit! If you are taller(I am 5’4″), then the length will be shorter unless you can find a tall size maxi dress. But this is pretty easy, I’ve only made pants one time when I was 12 years old and it was pajama pants, but making pants is much easier than I thought, so don’t be afraid to try it!

INSPIRATION BOARD FOR MY SEWING ROOM

March 11, 2016~ SEWING

I am in the process of planning my dream sewing room and I can hardly contain my excitement! I would have added the word “guys” at the end of that sentence but my husband made fun of me last week saying I use the word “guys” a lot on my blog. So I am going to try to refrain myself from using that word. 😀 Anyway, I have been dreaming of a beautiful sewing room forever, so this is my dream come true!

Thanks to Pinterest, I have so many ideas and designs to be inspired from and it’s been so much less overwhelming and more fun planning. Here are two that I love and will be adapting my designs from. Do you like it?

DIY: What to do with a shirt that shrunk or bleached

December 18, 2015~ SEWING

This post is in collaboration with Deseret Industries. They’re one of my go-to’s for my DIY refashion projects since there’s one within a few miles of my home. I went to the store looking for a solid color holiday sweater to refashion but found this striped sweater instead, there were so many options! They had plenty of solids and patterned sweaters so if you’re wanting a sweater to refashion like mine so you can wear it to your holiday gatherings, you’ll be sure to find one at Deseret Industries.

This top is a little too short to my liking, and the top below got bleached so the gingham print is all faded now. It was suppose to be a navy blue gingham print. I saved the top because I knew I could use the white lace on the bottom for a future project!
the comparison of how the top is suppose to look vs. the bleached faded color.
#momslife this is the behind the scenes of my photo shoot taking place. It just makes sense that the cheetah would try to climb down from the branch onto the shirt, doesn’t it? 😉
