i’m so excited to let you know that from now on, i’ll be collaborating with Jessica Peterson, an amazing photographer, and also one of my dearest friends, with my DIY projects! she is beautiful inside and out and has a gift to recognize and capture beauty through photographs. her photographs are classy, sophisticated, clean, beautiful, and i don’t know how else to word it, but it looks very upscale and expensive. haha, does that make sense? just look at these photos, they’re one of my favorites. so no more me-taking-the-picture-through-the-mirror photos, hooray!
i modestified the dress by adding black fabric on the bottom of the skirt. instead of picking out the seams of the bottom of the skirt, i added the extra fabric to the bottom of the skirt and sewed it along the already-there seams of the skirt. i didn’t sew the bottom of the added-fabric since the fabric cut nice and clean without any fraying.
project budget: very low(mine was $1-2 per dress)
estimated time: 10 mins.
level: beginner

your dress is lovely, is the white bolero a separate piece? did you make it or buy it? from where? its gorgeous!!
What a beautiful dress combination! You did a great job with the extra length. Would never have guessed that's the addition.:)
The dress is absolutely stunning. Love the shoes. You are gorgeous as always.
Thank you! The white is not attached, it's sewn onto the sleeves and the shoulders. And I have a link on the post right below all the pictures that takes you to the dress. π
Ah yes, now I see what you mean by having to modestify it, it really needs it… ooo but those sleeves are beautiful!!
What a great dress. Love the structure!
i love this, it is quite stunning.b
What a beautiful dress. The sleeves are stunning. Amazing pictures too.
so chic!

I always think your reworks are SPLENDID! This one included. That dress is sensational. However, why wouldn't you just take out that hem, attach the extra fabric at the bottom with a flat seam and then hem the additional fabric. For once, I think you made the rework look cheap…and you never do that. Please don't be offended, I'm just asking.
hi, the winner has been announced, just follow the link on the bottom of this post. π
I appreciate your honest feedback very much! I guess the reason why I did it this way was because I was in a hurry(my photographer friend came last minute so i actually sewed it while she was at my house waiting) and I just went with this one without much thinking. then she took pictures and I didn't think much about it but I'm so glad you told me it looks cheap! I will be doing it the other way. Feel free to let me know in the future anything I can do to improve!
Super cute! I love the colors! I'd love for you to link up to Crafty Cousins.

Oh, don't feel bad at all! I love it when people give constructive criticism, I know I can always improve and if you really care about someone, you'll be honest and give them ways to improve. SO keep it coming, please! I really mean it. π
WOW! Your dress budget is more than I spend on clothes for my whole family in a month.
I guess I need to stop being cheap…..
Hi! I got them for free! Believe me, otherwise, it's more than I spend on clothes for my whole family in a month as well. I usually buy $20 dresses for me that's on sale. I am cheap and will always be cheap haha. Thanks for your comment!
LOVE this dress–amazing as always. You never fail to amaze me, seriously. Congrats on the new collaborative partner. Just wanted to let you know I featured you on Sew Woodsy as the Reader's Choice! Thanks for linking up!
I love the dress so much …. Especially the white bolero … How you make it the bolero ?
