Inspiration: J.Crew girls’ petal necklace tee 32.50
bought this shirt on sale for $1
and using a grey silk top that i made this and this with,
i still had left over fabric to cut out 16 petals.
then i made the neckline of the shirt wider and then hand-sewed the petals
along the neckline. i also added a white and grey rosette flowers on the side.
the after:
this project only cost me one dollar(well, + plus tax to be exact ;).
I saved over $30!
I saved over $30!
p.s: this shirt is for my daughter, not for me. I showed this to one of my
friends who asked me if it was for me. haha i’m not that small, a size 4T!
What you’ll need:
- A plain top
- Matching thread
- Scissors
- silk fabric
- tulle
Estimated time: 1 hour
Budget: $1

Sarah,
Your talent is amazing. I'm HOPING I can someday find a plain shirt and make it as beautiful as you made this one. I featured this project on my blog. The link is here: http://keephomesimple.blogspot.com/2011/05/budget-friendly-inspiration.html

Leticia says
HOw did you make the little roses flowers…
THanks .! This is so cute!!!
B.Cheniful says
I La La La LOVE THIS! LOVE. Total nerd alert here, but how does it wash?
Sarah says
@Leticia: the rosettes are from strips of lace and the extra silk fabric. you start with one end and swirl it around as you're hand sewing it from underneath. I don't have a tutorial(yet?), so I hope that made sense!
@B." It washes just fine, it doesn't fray or anything but you do need to iron it after wash. put a cloth over the flowers and iron it on med. setting.
I appreciate all your comments, ladies! <3
