Would you like to know how you can make a skirt in 8 seconds?
From this?
just follow the picture instructions:
in summary:
and there you have an 8 second skirt!
you can also pull out the bottom part of the bow all the way out to make a bigger bow.
This project was totally unexpected but i love the result. I was folding my laundry one day and got to this striped top and thought about how this pattern would make a cute skirt. So i wondered if i had enough fabric to make it into a skirt so i slipped it on to see and then thought, hey, this doesn't look that bad just slipped on! And since the sleeves looked awkward, I tried tying them into a bow and it was even cuter!
So there you have it, this is what i truly call killing two birds with one stone.
What you'll need:
-a very stretchy, knit shirt with long sleeves
Instructions:
1. Hold up the shirt in front of you, so you see the back of the shirt.
2. Put your legs into the neck hole and slide the shirt up to your waist.
3. Tie the sleeves into a bow.
Estimated time: 8 whole seconds.
Budget: $0.00
Skill level: anyone who knows how to tie a bow?

LOL! This is genious! Although I'd need a 5XL to fit over my Mama Hips!

Saw this skirt on pinterest and immediately clicked on it. (mostly because I love bows and stripes)I read the tutorial, ran into my room, dug out my old navy and white stripe shirt, tried it out... and it worked! Absolutely genius! Love it. Now I'm a follower! Hope you'll come check out my blog!

That was so cool and well done! Love your blog! Am following you now :)
ReplyDeletehttp://junebiswas.blogspot.com
Absolutely stunning!
ReplyDeleteIf it were on me... well the line from Steel Magnolias about it looking like two hogs fighting in a burlap sack... Yep I think that would sum things up pretty aptly! :) LOL (you know you have hips when you have a 24 inch waist at 18 and your dr informs you that you have great "birthing" hips. yeah thanks Dr! but he was right! All three pregnancies, labor over almost before it began... LOL
I've done this before with an oversized shirt from India, with leggings underneath. You have no idea how many people comment positively on the idea.
ReplyDeletePerfect! I bought a shirt that look the same at target on sale and its way to big. I can do this! thanks!
ReplyDeleteI wore my skirt this week...thanks for the idea...I had lots of lovely comments too.
ReplyDeleteWow that is so cool, I love this idea! I would love to feature this tutorial on my blog...and would love to feature you (interview maybe?).

That is the cutest creation I have ever seen! Such a cute skirt...pure genius! Where did you get that shirt from? I'm dying to know! You are beautiful and I am so excited that I now follow you! :)
ReplyDelete@ashley, I got the shirt from Korea.
ReplyDelete@jen, feel free to feature this on your blog!
Thank you for your comments everyone!
I have never heard of Korea, I'm off to go search. Also I would love a more specific tutorial on how you folded the bow :) It is simply brilliant!
ReplyDeleteCould you possibly make a tutorial of how to make the bow? I am having trouble making my look good...
ReplyDeleteIt's just the basic, simple, traditional bow. After I tie it, I make sure to pull out the sides of the bow as flat and wide as possible. I will try to make a video tutorial on it later. :)
DeleteGonna try this with a men's button-down from Goodwill, too!! Super-cute :)
ReplyDeleteCan I use a quarterlength shirt or will the sleeves be to short to tie into a bow?
ReplyDeleteHi! quarter length sleeve will work with the bow on the very last picture. If you want it the other way, you'll have to use a long sleeve length shirt. :)
DeleteBrilliant! It is so cute and I'd never guess it was a shirt! :)
ReplyDeletereally cool!
ReplyDeletecool idea!!!
