Solly Baby Giveaway-International

October 16, 2013~ Etc.

To celebrate baby wearing month, we will be giving away 4 baby carriers for the next 4 weeks!
The first giveaway is from Solly Baby where one lucky winner will receive a baby wrap of their choice from Solly Baby.  Solly Baby asked 8 parents to be photographed in their homes wearing the Solly Baby wrap and Aiden and I got to participate in launching their new Fall 2013 collection.  Aiden got to model their new Fall line at only 10 days old, and he is Solly Baby’s youngest model yet!
I have the natural & grey stripe wrap from Solly Baby and it is the least bulkiest baby wrap I own.  Every time I put it on, Aiden stops crying and most of the time falls asleep in it!  I love the light grey and cream stripes because it is a neutral color that matches whatever I’m wearing and it fits my personality.  I love stripes.  Obsessed is more like it.  Another thing I love about their wrap is that it has an attached pouch in the end where I can just roll it up, and it also has a little pocket within the pouch for keys, chap-stick, what have you.  It is a very smart wrap that’s been well thought out.  Elle, the owner of Solly Baby is the sweetest who started this company when she had her second child and was frustrated with some of the baby carriers out there.  I love companies that are started by a mama and helps other mamas lives be easier!
To enter the giveaway, please visit their site and come back and leave a comment telling me which wrap you’d choose if you’re the winner!  Best luck everyone!

I have a secret to tell you…

June 19, 2012~ Etc.

So… remember last fall when I told you a director contacted me to be in a commercial?  After filming the commercial, he recommended that I sign up with a talent agency since he’d like to work with me in the future, and it’s much easier if I’m with an agency.  So I followed his advice and signed up with a talent agency.  Whew, there, I said it!
(I’ve done some photo shoots for photographers here and there and some stock photos before this, but I never considered  it “modeling” really.)
I’ve only told my immediate family and two of my closest friends(until now), and I don’t know why but I get really really embarrassed and awkward telling people about it!  But it’s a small part of me now and since this is a blog that documents my life, here it is.  So don’t ask me about it in real life, I’ll get super red and super awkward okay?

Here are some stuff I got to work on.

I worked for Jo Totes, a camera bag company.

images via their fb page

And I was in a fitness commercial for UltraFlex.  This was back in October 2011.  So yes, it’s taken me this long to not be as embarrassed to share it.
(I’m in the very beginning and then 3:13 and on)
Do you like my adorable Hispanic son? 😉 I wish he was really mine, I fell in love with him!
And a really embarrassing story while filming this commercial… so while I was saying my lines that I had memorized, one of the directors asked me to try saying my own testimonial without a script, so while I’m grasping the Ultraflex in the mid-air, I said, “One thing I love about ultraflex is that it’s so long and skinny that once you’re done using it, you just put it in the corner of the wall and no one will even see it!”  Now, this was an all-men crew, and I was the only girl(the other ladies filmed the next day), and they all bust out laughing and couldn’t seem to control it!  I kept saying to them, “What? Why are you guys laughing?  What’s so funny? Tell me!”  But they wouldn’t.  And after they got some composure, we resumed back to filming.  It wasn’t until we were done filming and I was driving back home by myself that I finally got it!  I was so embarrassed and kept saying to myself, “Oh my gosh!  Darn it!!! Why did I say that, oh my gosh, how embarrassing!!!”
So there you have it.  Fortunately(and obviously), they didn’t use that clip in the video.  That could be used for another kind of commercial if you know what I mean.  Eh hem.

Anyway, I’ve done a couple more stuff that I’ll share with you later when I get the photos.

Okay, that’s it, bye.

Molly Hanna DIY

April 26, 2010~ SEWING

I made two necklaces this past weekend. The first one was a bracelet but I thought it would be cute as a necklace.

Before

After

All I did was take the beads out and out a gold chain around it. So easy! I love recycling.

The second one was an inspiration from a designer Molly Hanna. I saw her designs in the J.Crew catalogue and instantly fell in love.

This model is Molly Hanna herself. Isn’t her necklace just beautiful? (It’s not for sale.)

These two necklaces were being sold for $495 and is sold out. So I thought, hey, it doesn’t look that hard… So I wanted to just experiment with it first so I made a “trial” one using jewelry I already had at home.

And the best thing is, it didn’t cost me a penny! I just gathered all the jewelry, beads, hair clips, earrings, flower brooches I had that I don’t wear and just played around and put together what I thought matched well together. Then I just super glued it on a black felt and super glued the black ribbon. No sewing was necessary, yay!

I can’t wait to make another one but this time buying some beads and jewels and I’ll hand sew the beads on a fabric instead. And a photographer Amber Weimer took this picture of me wearing the necklace for one of her projects.

Kinda embarrassed posting this picture haha. But oh what the heck. ^ ^
