My Dad’s Blessing

September 19, 2018~ SHARING MY HEART WITH YOU

This week was a 1-year mark of my dad’s passing.

When my dad was a College student, he was baptized as a Christian into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. In his blessing, he was promised that if he obeyed God’s commandments with exactness, his future children would be greatly blessed and they’d all become large statures in society.

So as a young College student, he would get up in the early hours of morning on Sunday, drink barley water for breakfast(since the cafeteria wasn’t yet open), take the train for several hours to get to church. He ate the crusts of the leftover sacrament bread for lunch, then take the train for several hours back to arrive in his dormitory around 9 pm. The cafeteria would be closed by then so having had nothing to eat but the crusts of the bread many hours earlier, he’d go to bed in an empty stomach. He did this every single Sunday without fail, in order to keep the Sabbath day holy and not spend money on this day.

My sister Pearl is very sweet, kind, giving, selfless, and hard working. Her beautiful aura calms me & her spiritual wisdom feeds my soul on the regular. Everybody wants to be around her and wants to be her friend & many call her an Angel, for she truly is one. She is a super mom/woman & my best friend.

Joseph is like my dad, he keeps the commandments with exactness. When he was 8 years old & it was a Fast Sunday, he walked up to our mom all distraught. My mom asked him what was wrong and he told her he was distraught because he accidentally swallowed his saliva and broke his fast. He went on to Cornell & got his Ph.D in Optics & invented invisible cloaking(read the article here about his invention) and now works for Raytheon, who specializes in world’s cybersecurity.

Jacob is like a Buddha. Always quiet, calm, patient & a Spiritual giant. He graduated top of his class from Harvard and he is one of the most noble, humble & kind person I know. He now works for the Embassy as the 1st counselor of the State, on his way to become a Diplomat. He speaks 6 languages & will be moving to Russia after living in Turkmenistan the past two years.

Michael is sweet, intelligent, driven & highly ambitious. After attending Cal Tech & getting a MBA at Stanford, he started a highly rated & successful coding school, Coding Dojo which operates 7 coding schools across the Nation.

But most importantly, they’re giving, kind, righteous, honest & good. So pure and good. If the world was full of only people like them, there would be no war, hunger, or dishonesty but truly world peace.

I know my dad smiles down at my siblings with pride. I hope to live my life so his promise of all his children can be fulfilled.
