It seems like many skirts selling at the stores these days are mid-thigh length or shorter. Which is a bummer since I’ll see a cute skirt at the store and gasp with excitement only to find in disappointment that it’s too short. So this is one of two ways I modestify my skirts.

unpick the bottom of the dress all the way around.
Excellent! Looks great!

Hey, this is good to know! I don't know why I didn't think about doing this. Thanks! Your skirt is really cute.
Great tip! Thanks for linking @Creative Itch's "Sew Cute Tuesday"!
I often have problems with skirts that are too short.
Any ideas for a skirt that does not have a hem to drop?
Love it! you need to share this in my weekly upcycled crafts party Upcycled Awesome. Here is the link: http://tinyurl.com/Upcycled6
bromeliad: buy a skirt a few sizes larger and then alter it to fit you. that way it's a longer length. if it's a back zipper, all u have to do is sew up the sides and you're done!
That extra 3 inches didn't take away from the cuteness at all. Nicely done!
Thank you for participating in the Therapy Session with Life in the Pitts!
I do this with lots of skirts too… it makes such a difference! Sometimes I'll add a ruffle or a contrasting solid band to the bottom if taking out the hem isn't enough.
I was walking around Target today, and I couldn't imagine not being able to sew. My cart was filled with boys' clearance flannel shirts that I'll add darts to so they're adorable, and I just can't even think what it would be like to have to shop for clothes EXACTLY AS THEY ARE. Most things I buy end up changed somehow, and it's way more fun (and cute!) that way.
