I got pulled over by a cop

March 13, 2015~ Etc.

I got this swimsuit for only $18(including tax!) and was so excited about it.  After the purchase, it was time to go pick up my daughter and as soon as I stepped out, I ran into a dear friend.  So wanting to see her a little more and chat with her, I went back inside the swimsuit store and got to spend a little more time with her.

By now, it was still enough time to be at the school on time but a block before I got to her school, there was a huge semi-truck turning into the road and the construction worker stopped all the cars with a stop sign for a solid 3 mins.  So now I was running late and I turned into the school and as I was turning into the parking lot, I hear that ugly, loud siren and sure enough see a police car behind me.

So I got pulled over by a cop right in front of my daughter’s teachers & helpers, her classmates and other kids.  Talk about embarrassing!  But good thing my car was facing the opposite side, because I started crying as I was talking to the police and couldn’t stop crying.  So the point of the story is, this swimsuit went from the cheapest suit I own to the most expensive suit I now own.

P.S. I am giving away a $50 giftcard to Kneader’s on my Instagram, come enter!

Sunday Best

March 6, 2015~ Etc.

I’m so in love with my daughter’s outfit, how about you?  I had to bribe my daughter with an Oreo in order for her to keep her hat on at church.  As for me, these pictures are from when I was featured in the Brahmin Fall 2013 catalogue.  They sent me a few bags for me to style in my own way before sending it back to them which was a fun experience and I got to choose a few bags of my choice to keep in return.  I wore this same exact outfit to church and I even had Jay take pictures but let’s be honest, the pictures sucked.  Not because of Jay but because my poses were just way too cheesy.  Haha!  So I’m posting these pictures instead.

Mother's Life

March 2, 2015~ Etc.

{Hello everyone!  I feel like I’ve been busy on Instagram where I post almost daily and while I love Instagram, I love blogging too because I always have the hardest time choosing just one picture for Instagram!  On here, I can post as many dang pictures as I want to, hence all these pictures.}
On Sunday morning while we were still in our pajamas with bed hair, it looked like I’d have about an hour to sew, so I got excited and was about to start sewing when my daughter asked me if I could teach her to make a pillowcase.  I had let her pick out a fabric from the fabric store several weeks prior, with the promise that I’d teach her to make a pillowcase.  I immediately said yes of course, and then as we were trying to find her sewing machine, the thread, getting set up, I let out a sigh and said to Jay when I wasn’t near my daughter, “Ugh, I just wanted to sew for myself.  Now, I won’t get to.  The story of my life.”  Then as I thought more and seeing how excited Adi was, I decided to shift my attitude and decide to be just as happy and excited as she was.  While I didn’t get to sew and I probably won’t get a chance to until next weekend, I was able to spend time with my girl and bond with her and have a priceless moment.  I also thought, “If I were to die tomorrow and today was my last day to live, I wouldn’t want to do anything else right now, I’d want to sew with my daughter.”  I’m a nerd and that’s been my motto for me lately, since my goal lately is to spend each moment with the greater meaning and purpose and avoid being idle and do things that build up the kingdom of God instead of spending too much time on Instagram or checking my e-mails.
Anyway, so I had so much fun teaching my daughter to sew a pillowcase and she was so proud of it!

I knew my daughter had something going on when she threaded(correctly) the sewing machine all by herself when she was 6 and designed/cut and sewed a bib-style halter top for her cousin.  I asked her, “How did you thread the machine? you have never seen me thread it and I never showed you how!” she said to me, “I just followed the arrows, it was easy!”

And right when I started taking pictures of my daughter with her pillowcase, guess who decided to join in and steal her thunder and pretend like he was the one that made the pillowcase. πŸ˜‰

If I was a fashion blogger…

February 18, 2015~ Etc.

an anonymous reader commented that she wanted more pictures of my dog on here, so this is for you! πŸ˜‰

If I were to have a fashion blog…

It would be the same outfit 2 days in a row, the same casual jumpsuits that get repeated weekly(I live in them, they’re the most comfortable thing in the world! well, except when you gotta pee), unwashed hair and mirror selfies because there’s nobody to take pics & too lazy/no time to set a timer on a tripod, upload and edit the pics, and no fancy jewelry like layered bracelets because I’m constantly chasing and holding my son, or moving my arms around.  I see these fabulous stay at home mom fashion bloggers and think, “Where are they going with that full on made up face/hair, dressed up outfit every single day?” because most days I stay home and only get out to drop/pick up my kids from school and I ain’t going to dress up and get all made up for that!  So do they sometimes dress up just for the sake of posting it on social media? If so, I applaud them for their dedication!
So yes, this is me all dressed up in my book, out to lunch to see my girlfriend w/ 2 kids in tow.  I’ve even ditched my flats, ya’ll!
And here’s my daughter’s Sunday best from this past Sunday.  I didn’t take pictures of my outfit because after church I was pooped and we turned on a family movie(the original Parent Trap, love that movie!), and I totally fell asleep.  I remember thinking as I was about to fall asleep, “Oh shoot, I didn’t take a picture of my Sunday best outfit and if I don’t do it now, it’s going to get too dark for pictures… Should I get up?  Should I?  Oh screw it, I’m too lazy to get up so I choose sleep over taking pictures.”  So yes, another reason why I would not make a good fashion blogger! πŸ˜‰
