My Familia

June 15, 2010~ Etc.

Home is Heaven on Earth. Do you believe that? I wholeheartedly believe so.

Every Summer my parents visit from Korea and stay in their UT home and I love it when they do. I’ve been going to mom’s every single day except for one day when the kids were all sick. My family is awesome and so genuine and caring and supportive of one another. And Jay LOVES hanging out with my family which I love! He’s the one that usually says to me, “Do you wanna go to mom’s as soon as the kids wake up from their naps?” haha such a cutie.

Not to mention I haven’t cooked dinner for the 5 days. Muhahahaha, it’s been GREAT!!! ;D

creepy I know. And I’m not talking about me haha.

my brother used to have long hair but buzzed it all off and his daughter didn’t recognize him for a few hours and would cry everytime he tried to hold her.

my dad falls asleep like this on the couch everyday.
the most perfect woman I’ve ever met. And I’m talking about me. hahaha SO kidding, it’s my mommy. πŸ™‚

kids love the simplest things. I LOVE that about them.

my mom’s famous bulgogi. Jay likes hers better than mine. πŸ™

J.Crew-flutter fold shell Top

June 14, 2010~ Etc.

This week I used an inspiration from this Flutter Fold Shell from J.Crew.

But it turned out to be a little different than I had originally planned and it was a very spontaneous, g0-with-the flow project. So this is the result:
I actually had another top from Anthropologie in mind but I realized after I cut it into thick strips that I wouldn’t have enough fabric. So I went through my inspiration file and picked the tank above. I had to cut the strips into skinnier pieces and went from there. I bought two shirts and used the fabric from one shirt for the strips and the flowers and added it on to the other shirt.

the flowers were not planned, I actually made the flowers for a headband but I was playing around with it and it looked really cute on the shirt. Now I can’t imagine the shirt without the flowers!

The shirt was very design-as-I-go, but I’m very happy with how it turned out. WHEW, a huge sigh of relief~!!! πŸ™‚

And I made the flowers unattachable so it could be used as a headband.

This project cost me $7 and the tank from J.Crew is $78. So I saved over $70! Ahh it feels SO good. ;D

Good bye weekdays and Hellooooo weekend!

June 11, 2010~ Etc.

I’m so happy this week is over. Only because our family was sick on Sunday night and Adalie and Jay started having bloody throw ups in 10-15 min. increments most of the night. Then Ana had the same bloody throw up and then it moved to diarrhea and then I got sick too and it was no fun at all. But we’re all better now and my parents are here for the summer from Korea and also my brother and his wife and their cute daughter are visiting from California for 2 weeks! So I’ve been spending all my days at mom’s house which is so nice. Families are the best things in life! And one of my most best/dear friends Ginny is coming back home this week after finishing her 1st year of grad school! Aww she is one of my favorite people on this earth and I am so so so so so excited to spend our Summer together!

look at our posture. Our legs and are hands are exactly the same. We’re soulmates!
these are pics from last Summer. Isn’t she gorgeous? She’s also gorgeous on the inside too. *sorry she’s married boys. πŸ˜‰

this picture summarizes how we are when we’re together to the T.
ooh we made awesome Korean style shaved ice. I can’t wait to make it again.

Well, I hope you all have a HAPPY WEEKEND and to help you achieve that, I’m offering 20% off on all your purchases from S.T Collection until next Friday the 18th! Use promotion code: HAPPYWEEKEND.

My nasty encounter

June 10, 2010~ Etc.

So a couple weeks ago I woke up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom in the basement. Since the two kids sleep in the main floor bedroom and the 2nd floor bedroom, I always use the basement bathroom at night.

As I was sitting on the toilet with my eyes half closed, I see something moving on the side of my eye. I glance over and it’s something black that’s about 3 inches long and very skinny crawling around. My heart skipped a beat and I sat there for a few secs. thinking of what to do and then I got up and ran upstairs as fast as I could, grabbed a clear glass bowl and came running back down. The centipede had crawled quiet some distance by that time and it was on the other side of the bathroom. With my shaking hands, I trapped the nasty centipede with the glass bowl and turned off the light and ran back upstairs. I shook my body and cringed until I fell asleep. I was so distraught! I’ve never seen a centipede before and it was DISGUSTING. I think I would’ve been more distraught if I was wearing my contacts and saw those nasty how-many-ever-legs-they-have crawling all over. EWW. YUCK. NASTY.

The next morning as soon as I woke up I ran back down to check if the centipede was still in there and it was, thank goodness. I told Jay about my horrible encounter and he went downstairs and took care of it for me. SICK.

Anywho a few days later I woke up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom in the basement. I sat down on the toilet with my eyes half closed when I glanced down and saw something long and brown. I wasn’t wearing my contacts so it wasn’t very clear but it did give me a scare as my face cringed and I squinted my eyes and leaned my head in closer to get a better look.

It was a wooden toy snake I had bought for Adalie a few days earlier. Jay had placed it under the vanity ever so discreetly with it’s head peeping out.

The next morning Jay asked me if I saw anything in the bathroom the night before and of course I told him yes I saw the snake he put there but how it didn’t scare me one bit. He just said, “oh….” and looked so disappointed. I wasn’t going to give him the satisfaction of letting him know it did indeed almost give me a heart attack!!! SHESH!!!

WHAT DO I DO TO GET HIM BACK??? Oh bring it. It’s pay back time.

We got a puppy!

June 9, 2010~ Etc.

Okay, I’m kidding. But we were really close to getting one. Our next door neighbor knocked on our door this past weekend and said, “Isn’t it Adalie’s birthday today?” we said, “no…not until November…” And she said, “Yes it is! And we have a present for her!” and holds out the most tiniest cutest little puppy. The girls and I all scream and run to grab the tiny puppy and we were smitten. The owner of the puppy left for school and she couldn’t take it with her so she put our neighbor in charge of finding a new owner. And our neighbor knew we were thinking about getting a dog.

Her name is Roxy and she is only 6 weeks old. She’s 1/2 bishon and 1/2 pug. They call them Pushon. Isn’t she lovely?

We took her on a “test drive” for a few hrs. to see what it would be like and if we could handle a puppy. She fell asleep on the cart at Home Depot.

And then fell asleep on our way home on my lap! oh I just wanted to squeeeeeze her!

After a few hours and seeing what it would be like, we decided the kids were too young still, Adalie kept wanting to hold her and not let the puppy walk on her own, we had to watch them literally every single second to make sure they wern’t hurting Roxy and it was too much to handle for us right now. Maybe when Ariana is Adalie’s age… then we’ll think again. But she sure was a cutie and we had fun with her for a small moment.

This video is of Adalie trying to put Roxy on time out after she bit Ana. I guess that’s what I sound like when I put them on time out haha.
