Ninja Turtles

June 12, 2013~ Etc.

Ever since Jay showed the girls an episode of Ninja Turtles, one of his favorite shows he watched when he was a little boy, the girls have been obsessed.  So Jay went shopping with the girls to the fabric store and got his crafty skills out to make them a Ninja Turtle costume.

He’s had some experience making the Ninja Turtle costume before, when he won the best overall group costume at our Single’s ward Halloween party back in 2006.  He came up with the costumes and made all of them using a hot glue gun!  I think he just wanted an excuse to wear those green tights if you ask me. 😉

**This is Jay and I just wanted to clarify that Sarah failed to mention that she was also in that same 2006 Halloween Costume Party with her group of friends as Snow White and the 7 dwarfs and we actually beat their costumes for best group costume! And yes, real men wear tights! COWABUNGA DUDE!!!

Caterpillar hunting

June 10, 2013~ Etc.

On our Sunday family walk after church, we went up to the canyons to look for caterpillars. Jay remembers catching one when he was a little boy and watching it grow to a pupa and then to a butterfly, and we thought the girls would enjoy watching the transitional period also.  The girls loved looking at the leaves and trying to spot the caterpillars and we found several!  We safely put them in a jar and when we came home, Jay made their new home using an old screen door while we all drank homemade orange julius.  We are hoping they’ll all survive and transform into beautiful butterflies!

Anniversary dinner

June 7, 2013~ Etc.

I told Jay to give me the most attractive face he could muster.
then I said, no, be serious!  and he gives me this face.
shirt and top thanks to Miccimo.
and I look like I’m 4’9″ tall.  this is what you get when your almost-foot-taller husband takes pictures of you!
We went to Chef’s Table for our anniversary dinner date.  And you know what we realized? We are both not really a huge fan of fancy restaurants.  With Jay, it’s always because of the portion size(he wants quality and quantity), and me?  I would rather eat a steak burrito at Chitpotle!  Don’t even get me started about how much I love that place.  It’s the only thing I crave deeply with this pregnancy!  We love nice buffets(the Roof Restaurant and the Bellagio buffet are our favorite) and maybe because we just haven’t found one nice restaurant that impressed us with their food?  Anyway, the receptionist asked us if we were celebrating our 1st anniversary together.  She was surprised to hear it was our 6th anniversary and expecting our 3rd child.  We hardly can’t believe it either!
Jay took a close-up shot of me with the food at the restaurant but when I looked at the picture, I just started laughing because my face looked so full and round.  I’ve gained the most weight with this pregnancy than my other two, but I actually don’t care and I’m actually embracing it.  Why does the society think it’s a bad thing to gain weight and get bigger during pregnancy?  That’s what our bodies are suppose to do!  I’m grateful I’m healthy and the baby is growing healthy and strong.  It’s nothing short of a miracle that another human being is growing inside of me and my body provides protection, nourishment, and everything necessary to make him form into a complete human being.
I was talking to my friend yesterday and we were telling each other of our body changes after having our babies and we were complaining a little bit about how unfair it is since we give up and sacrifice so much to have a baby and to be a mother, and then on top of that, our bodies go downhill from there!  I told her if it was my say, I would have all the mother’s bodies be even better than before their pregnancy!  Then my friend told me that maybe God made it that way to stop the selfish women from having babies(I’m not saying if you don’t have children, you are selfish by any means).  I thought more about that and maybe that’s true.  It’s definitely better for our bodies to downhill than to have a selfish women become mothers for the wrong motive.  I guess God is wise after all. 😉  And I will embrace and love my body after this baby is born no matter what it might look like because it’s this body that formed and created three wonderful children.

Shedding season

June 5, 2013~ Etc.

It’s getting really hot in Utah which means it’s time for Achille’s hair to start shedding.  He only sheds twice a year during the transition from Spring to Summer and then from Fall to Winter, but when he sheds, it’s intense!  Jay had brushed him earlier this day and still, look at all that hair!
so gross.  but it’s a lot less maintenance than raising a child, that’s for sure!
