MY GIRL IS 8

April 13, 2017~ Etc.

Dress sold out but similar here, here and here

My 2nd daughter was baptized last weekend. I will post more photos later of the brunch and more. I only teared up the first 1/2 of the program, but as I wrapped the towel around her as she came out of the water & it was just me & her, tears dripped down my face as I embraced her in my arms. For the next 10 mins., I helped get her ready, changing her into her beautiful white dress, blow drying & curling her hair. It was quiet, peaceful & joyous, yet a part of my heart was in turmoil. I don’t know what it is about watching my kids turn 8 years old but it is such a big milestone to me. Perhaps it’s because I feel 8 is when they’re no longer a child & their innocence starts to rub away. They start caring about what other people think about them, what’s considered cool, & they no longer only depend on their parents’ approval or acceptance but start to seek it in others. And I want to protect & shield her from all the bad & the negativity. What if the world tells her she’s not good enough? What if it tells her to change because she’s too different or too similar? Too loud or too quiet? Too bossy or too submissive?

As fear & worry was starting to settle in my heart, I felt a calm wash over me. “Do not worry about what the world will think of her. Only trust how you think of her & what God thinks of her. If she looks up for approval & acceptance instead of around her, she will thrive.”

So my child, I pray, oh how I pray that you will do just that. If you look up to God in everything that you do, the world will see just how inquisitive, smart, creative, caring, highly-sensitive, adorable, so so sweet, delicate yet strong you really are. But even if they don’t, I know you are. And God knows you are. And you know that you are. And that’s all that matters. So go out into the world and thrive, my beautiful child. And I will always let you shine in your own way in your own time & not get in your way, but instead be right by your side cheering you on. You will always have my whole heart & acceptance. I love you always and always, no matter what, no matter when.

SPEAKING AT TWO EVENTS & MY DAUGHTER’S BIRTHDAY

March 6, 2017~ Etc.

I spoke last weekend at @lifebeatsproject 1-year anniversary event and was in awe of my dear friend’s dedication and love she has for others. She threw a beautiful event and there was so much love and respect in the room!

If you remember, I did a podcast with her several months ago about my 6-year battle with an eating disorder & how I overcame it. As the class filled up and we were about to start, I silently prayed to know what I could tell these women. Before I even finished my prayer, I had a sudden visual of our Father walking towards each of these woman & putting both of his hands on their shoulders as he starred straight into their eyes & I felt the enormous love he had for them. What surprised me & totally put me off guard though was feeling such deep admiration he had for each of these woman. “Oh, wow, God, I didn’t know you looked up to us? You, the most perfect, powerful being, can admire people like us?” And the answer was a yes. A deep, resounding yes.

As I thought about it, it made perfect sense. God is the most knowing and powerful, yet most humble. Even he doesn’t think he is above us. And he thinks we are amazing. So amazing. We each have many traits that he admires and looks up to. As I get to know/remember more of him, the more my heart melts because of his absolute sweetness and tenderness. I love him so much. #sharingmyheartwithyou

TYAU SUNDAY

March 6, 2017~ Etc.

Happy Sunday friends! I’m happy my husband will be home in a little bit!

Wore my dress that my kids bought me for Christmas, which they were SO excited to give me that they tried to keep it a secret but gave it away within 3 days. “Mom! You’re going to love our present! It was the most expensive gift we got though, but you’re worth it. Mom! Do you want me to tell you what it is? No? Well, you’re going to love it! Mom! I won’t tell you what it is but it has stripes & pockets so we know you’re gonna love it. Mom! It’s a dress! But just act like you don’t know when you open it, okay?”

And every time I put this dress on: “Mom! Do you like our present?” While their faces light up. So even though I wouldn’t have bought this dress myself, it’s now my favorite dress & I’ll be sporting it a lot this year. #tyausunday

KOREAN NEW YEAR

January 30, 2017~ Etc.

So Jay could work uninterrupted while renovating the bathroom all day on Saturday, my kids and I spent the day together by going to the new aquarium in Utah called SeaQuest Interactive Aquarium and we had so much fun! The kids loved feeding the stingrays, they keep talking about the shark trying to jump up to grab the food and my oldest even getting bit by a stingray. It startled her but she says she’d still feed them so I guess their bites don’t hurt? I wouldn’t know because I have no desire to feed them, ever.

Then we visited our friends and then Jay met us at a Chinese restaurant for dinner.

Then Jay passed out out red envelops according to the Chinese tradition since it was a Lunar New Year and as I was trying to explain to my kids that it shouldn’t be called a Chinese New Year since it’s celebrated by other countries that go by the lunar calendar such as Korea!!! Then Jay kept arguing with me that it was not Korean New Year, so as the queen of my household, I officially declare this day a KOREAN NEW YEAR. 😀 Watch the video of Jay getting so mad! Psh.
