while you are sleeping.

January 24, 2012~ Etc.

did you know that every night while you are sleeping, mommy comes and lies next to you in your little green bed to make sure your legs are not out of the bed, that you’re still breathing and well, and to give you many gentle kisses?    that i just can’t stop starring at you in awe at how cute and adorable you look?  that even on those days when you poop and pee in the house or chew up everything, as soon as you fall asleep i start missing you and wish you were awake to play with me?  that i make a promise to God that i’ll be a better mother tomorrow than i was today?
hahahaha, okay, i’m so joking.  well, kind of… is it bad that i love my dog almost as much as my own kids, if not just as much?  i absolutely love being a dog owner.  it was my husband’s idea to get a dog(he’s always wanted a dog since he was little), but he said to me the other day, “i think you like having a dog more than i do!”  and i think he’s right, i love him so much! it doesn’t hurt the fact that he never whines or talks back, or throws temper tantrums but is just so sweet all.the.time.  not that my 2 and 4 year old daughters do any of those things or anything… πŸ˜‰  but i love each member of my family just the way they are.

achille’s first encounter with snow.

January 16, 2012~ Etc.

we didn’t get any snow while my sister and her family were visiting for christmas , so we went near the sundance ski resort to see some snow.  it was achille’s first time seeing snow and it was so fun to see him play in the snow, which he loved!  he also loved getting all the attention where ever he went.  i think there wasn’t one person that passed by without stopping to either just look at him and comment how cute he is, to pet him or take pictures of him.  he’s been quiet the crowd pleaser where ever we go and i mean, can you really blame him? πŸ˜‰

christmas part one.

December 30, 2011~ Etc.

our oldest daughter adi woke us up super early on christmas morning(after running into the livingroom by herself and opening all the stockings and choosing which stocking was to be hers, stuffing it all back in, making sure santa paid a visit and left presents under the christmas tree) and had us go straight to our livingroom to open the presents.  i wanted to cover the blanket over my head and go back to sleep and demand that the rest do the same, but there was no way our two excited kids were going to do just that!  so open presents we did, and saved the best for last.
i love the last picture where she seems to be saying, “daddy, you can clearly see that i don’t want him on my lap, but why aren’t you doing anything about it?”

meet our newest addition.

December 28, 2011~ Etc.

on christmas eve, my husband and i anxiously drove to the airport to pick up our newest addition to the family.  we were suppose to pick him up the day before christmas eve, but due to southwest cancelling all their pet travels the day of his flight until january, the best our breeder could do was to buy him a ticket from delta with a connecting flight in between.  but our pup missed his connecting flight so he had to stay overnight and fly to utah the next morning.  so you can guess just how anxious and eager we were to meet this little guy!  and me hissing, “they better take him to a high-class dog hotel in minnesota and give him the VIP treatment!” about 20 times throughout the night while reading the book, “how to raise the perfect puppy” written by the dog whisperer guy.

and after we arrived at the airport and waited for 40 mins., an agent finally brought him out in his crate.  and as soon as we laid our eyes on him, our hearts completely melted.  he is perfect.

we made sure to use the “no talk, no touch, no eye contact” rule and let him smell us first and have him go in the car and in his crate on his own and not force him in it by using a treat.  he behaved perfectly- calm, curious, playful, and fell asleep within a few minutes of being in the car!  he is so sweet.  let’s just pray we will train him correctly.

oh, we’re so going to be one of those dog lovers who put their dogs in their family christmas cards and throw them little birthday parties.  and we’re completely okay with that. πŸ˜‰

and you’ll be seeing a lot of pictures of him from now on.  i hope you’re okay with that.

…..like starting now.

and his name you might wonder?  his name is achilles.  can you guess who named him? ;D
i think my husband is finally starting to feel the hormones balance out in this family.
