    I LOVE what you do! I’ve been doing thrift store remakes, but none are as creative as yours. You’ve inspired me!

    Here’s a tip that will give you nicer gathers that are easier to manage: Sew two basting seams, 1/4″ and 5/8″ from the edge. Pull both threads evenly at the same time and you will have a much easier gather to work with. Pin the gathered skirt to the bodice as usual, but sew with the ungathered bodice on top, so that the gathers don’t get caught up in the pressure foot. Sew 1/2″ seam allowance, right between the two parallel basting stitches. Also, if you will mark the ungatherd skirt at 1/4 intervals, then when you gather it up, pin each of the 1/4 marks at the two side seams of the bodice and the front and back centers. That make it easier to distribute the gathers evenly.
