Ana’s half birthday celebration

October 8, 2014~ Etc.

Ana turned five and a half years old so we celebrated with our usual half birthday tradition of going to the dollar store and letting the birthday girl and her siblings pick out two items each, and then letting her blow out the candle to her guava cake.  Ana picked out sugar daddy and fall window stickers and Adi picked out the ninja costume.  I wanted pop rocks so I grabbed them and Jay goes, “Whoa, whoa, who said you can pick out something?  Fine, I’ll let you pick out one thing but that’s it, you better not pick two!”  He sure is my sugar daddy, isn’t he?
Both of the girls picked out more than two items so they had to pay me the extra with their fun money when we returned home.  We have a piggy bank that’s separated into three sections and one is for fun where they could spend it however they want, one is for savings where they save 20% of what they earn, and the last one is for tithing where they put 10% of their earnings to give to the church.
My oldest is turning 7 very soon and it is breaking my heart.  Five and a half still seems little, but seven?  Seven is the age when you’re no longer considered a little kid but now a big kid.  It always hits me harder with my first child since she’s the first one to hit the new digits.  With Ana, it’s not as surprising or shocking since the age she’s turning into has already been done by her sister so I’m used to it by then.  But seriously my little Ana buns, could you please stay as my little 5 1/2 year old girl forever?  I tell her that all the time and this is her reply to me every time, “Mommy, I can’t stop my body!  But when I die and go to heaven, I’ll say to Heavenly Father, Heavenly Father can I please turn back to 5 1/2 and stay there forever?  Mommy, I’ll say that for you so you can be happy!”
I hope he grants your wish Ana.  I’ll start praying for it too so he can grant two wishes at once.

October 2, 2014~ Etc.

Since I was about 12 years old, I dreamed of making cute sack lunches for my kids for school, complete with cute little hand-written notes.  I also envisioned me waiting for them at home when they return from school with yummy, healthy snacks prepared for them in the kitchen, and talking about how their day […]
