This article made me really guilty last night that I couldn’t sleep for an hour. It’s about how every hour of t.v your kid watches directly links to lower grades, poorer behavior in classroom, higher weight, less physical activity and that. a kid at any age shouldn’t watch more than 1 hr. of t.v. I know excuses stink but until my second baby Ariana was born, Adalie hardly watched any t.v but she usually wakes up in the morning before Ariana does and I need to have her not make noise to wake her sister up, t.v is the perfcct solution. When I’m putting Ana down for a nap and I need Adalie to be somewhere where I know she won’t make a mess, get into trouble, get hurt and be quiet, t.v is the perfect solution. Ok, I’m justifying myself because obviously I feel guilty. So I repented and made a goal to not have them watch more than 1 hr. of t.v a day. So today Adalie watched about 30 mins. of t.v. and that was it! I’m so grateful I read this article because I knew t.v was bad for the kids but reading this article and reading actual facts and statistics kinda hit reality to me. I highly recommend all you mothers read the article.
And now, these are some things that are making me feel so much better right now.
Eva Longoria without any makeup. Man, I love this picture, I need to look at this every time I feel ugly!
And this wonderful quote:
“I am a wife, mother, cook, housekeeper, run a daycare alone, teacher, nurse, handywoman, maid, security, coordinator, supervisor, manager, secretary, nutritionist, caretaker, personal assistant, life coach, bookkeeper, psychologist, chauffeur, administrator, fitness coach & a motivational speaker. I don’t get holiday pay, sick pay, or days off. I am on call 24 hrs 7 days a week. Now, tell me YOUR job is harder than mine!”
Top that!

that makes me feel better as well, what a difference! I don't know if it´s actually tv that is the bad thing, I think it´s more WHAT you watch on there that counts. There are loads of very smart programs even for children, and I´ve learned a lot from watching tv… About nature, society, biology and anatomy, astrology… At least in Finland there are these lovely series for children about all those things and history as well, and I think they´re great! don't know what this is called in english but here´s one! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M1QCA4sflPc hope the link works, hehe.

Yes, it's true, mothers fulfill all of those roles, but because the people who mothers serve are more important than any other "customer" they could ever have, mothers are far more important than any single one (or combination) of them. Hey Sarah, it's Ryan Fisher. Way to go with the kids. 🙂 I like your blog!

Lol wow, what a big difference in the Eva picture. Thanks for sharing, made me feel beautiful. Haha!
And I feel guilty ALL the time about the TV thing, especially lately with a newborn who is completely dependent and a toddler who needs entertaining. TV is so easy to go to. Hopefully as adjustments to our new addition is made, the amount of TV my toddler watches will decrease.
