Family Camping

November 7, 2015~ Etc.

You guys, I have so many blog posts I want to blog about that is long overdue… like when I went to girls camp for my church(I teach 16-17 year old girls in my church), and when we went camping back in July in Yuba Lake… and for some reason I thought I blogged about this post but I just checked and I never did! We actually went camping 4-5 times(I can’t remember the exact time, mom brain is SO real, especially after 3 kids, guys, which is why I thought I blogged about this) this past Summer, we LOVE camping!!! I love that we can’t use our phone, there’s no internet or electronics, just me, nature and my family. It’s refreshing to know I can’t use my phone at all, it stops me from wasting so much time that I normally spend on checking social media and emails and reading articles.

Jay made this awesome breakfast. It doesn’t look that good, but it was delicious!
Our boy spent a lot of time hugging this cooler because he knew it had all the treats and candies in it. He’d try to sneakily open it and when we would tell him no, he’s make this sad sound and get in this position in despair. Such a tough life guys, such a hard life.
This 8-men instant tent is amazing(we got it from Coleman). I am not sure if I said this on the blog before but we recently found out that there’s such a thing as an instant tent. WHAT!!! Setting up the tent is what we spend most of our time on when we arrive to the campsite and get everything ready, but this tent literally takes 1 minute. Why didn’t we know of this sooner?
Jay also found this 3 ingredients peach cobbler recipe:
  • 2 cans of peaches in light syrup
  • 1 box of yellow cake mix
  • 12-16oz of 7-up
Pour the entire content of cans of peaches on the bottom. Pour the yellow cake mix on top, Thereafter pour in the 7-up and mix it until it is a smooth consistency. Bake at 350 for 20-30 mins. Or like us, put it on a dutch oven.
We were so excited to go fishing on our inflatable boat but it was way too windy! So we never got to go but we still went fishing on land and had a lot of fun.

Daddy’s little shadow. Always.

We can’t wait to go camping next Summer!

Family camping.

June 29, 2012~ Etc.

Last Friday morning, we went to go see the much anticipated movie, Brave.  It was really good, and the girls loved it too.  Then when we got in the car, we surprised the girls and told them that we were going camping, like right now!  Their response wasn’t as exciting as we expected(just like when we surprised them with a puppy last Christmas), but we think it’s because they’re still too little and it’s just too much for them to take at once.  That better be it or else it’s always going to be so anti-climatic when we surprise them!  But once it sank in, they did get really excited since they’ve been asking us to go camping for the last month or so.
We had originally planned to go for one night but it was so much fun, we ended up staying for two nights.  And even after two nights of camping, the girls didn’t want to go home(they said they wanted to stay forever!), and Achilles absolutely loved it too, so I think it’s safe to say this won’t be the last camping we’ll do this summer.

I love crawfish! My friends and I go catch them at Strawberry Reservoir and then have a big crawfish boil after. One of my favorite things to do in the summer.

I know! I thought kids grow up way too fast, puppies grow much faster! πŸ™

That is where we went and it was great! About 6-10 crawfish would be clinging unto the drumstick everytime we pulled it out, it was crazy! It would be such a fun activity with friends, maybe I'll do that too next time.:) Thanks for your comment!

ok, how is it "modest" to post photos of oneself in a two piece bikini and yet insist on sewing on cap sleeves to dresses?

don't get me wrong–i think that the idea of "modesty" for women is patriarchal, old-fashioned crap.

however, this seemed a teeny bit hypocritical.

You have a valid point! The reason why I add sleeves to dresses is because as a mormon, I always wear garments except for some activities such as swimming and exercising. It's not because I think sleeveless dresses are immodest. "modestify" is a term I used towards the mormons, since they know what it meant. I think what I wore(a top and jean shorts) were modest, and I felt comfortable wearing them. I might feel different if I wore like a string bikini to Jay's work party or something with all his male co-workers, but someone else might not feel immodest wearing that, and I wouldn't judge her for doing so, just because "my" definition of what's appropriate or not is different than hers. So the definition of modesty is different for everyone, and I think there's not one specific rule or definition when it comes to modesty. πŸ™‚

LDS standards have really changed since I converted to the church in 1974.

HOORAY! Keep wearing your bikini and your short skits that seem to have no garments underneath them!
