one night as jay and i were sleeping in our bedroom, adi woke jay up so he could go sleep with her in her bedroom(which she does every night). when he saw adi, she was in ana’s pants which were too small for her and not wearing a top. she had taken off her onesie pajamas and in the dark rummaged through the closet to find pants which she picked to be ana’s. so jay said to her, “adi, why are you not wearing a shirt? why did you change?” and she said, “but daddy! i just want to be like you!” (jay sleeps shirtless sometimes)
last friday we went to target and adi wanted to wear this pink princess skirt. as we were walking into the store these two girls were walking out of the store and were looking at adi and ana and smiling at them. then adi says to me while smiling coyly and rolling her eyes upward, “mommy, everybodys looking at me because they think i’m pretty.”
today ariana spilled some water on the carpet. while i got up to go get a towel i heard adi say, “dear Heavenly Father, can you please go get a towel and clean this up please? thank you, amen.”
*TMI(too much information) warning
i was sitting on the toilet, you know, doing what every person does when they’re on the toilet, (#2), and ana, my 2 yr. old comes up to me and puts her hand on my knee and with a concerned look on her face she says, “poo poooo— coming out?”
yesterday we went to go get frozen yogurt for my friend’s b-day. adi and ana were the only kids there and jay and i were the only marrieds, the rest were single, college-aged kids. and they weren’t paying any attention to adi or ana and since adi LOVES the attention, she said out loud, “i feel left out.” i felt so bad and tried to have her sit in the middle of everyone which she refused to for some reason. then a few mins. later, she started belting out a disney song, “a whole new world” in hopes of getting some attention. but since the shop had loud music and our friends were busy talking, no one heard her except for our family. so she stopped trying and just played on the ipad the rest of the time. aw. it still hurts my heart when i think about it.
but she sure got enough attention last sunday when we were at my parents’ house singing during FHE(family home evening) with some guests. no one told her to dance and she’s never taken any dance classes.
after watching this, i signed her up for a dance summer camp.
and we’ve been going to my parents’ house every night when jay gets home from work so he could work on renovating their house. today was no different and i usually go help him but i was so tired and the kids were making huge messes so i was busy cleaning up after them that i didn’t go upstairs once to go help him or see how he’s doing. so i stayed downstairs the whole time and i kept hearing jay sigh or making grunt noises while moving heavy things. i just thought, ‘oh poor jay, he’s working so hard.” when it was time to go home to put the kids to sleep, he came downstairs and he didn’t act very happy. i asked him if he was mad at me and he said no but he acted a little cold and sad. after we put the kids to sleep, jay came to me and said, “i’m sorry, i’m not mad, i was just hurt that you didn’t even once come up and say hi or see how i was doing. and i was moving your parents’ stone bed(yes they have a stone heated bed) and dad said how it took 6 koreans to move the bed into the house but i was moving it by myself and i was hoping you would come up and see me moving it and be all impressed and see how strong i am….. so that’s why i was sad. and i kept making noises to get your attention so you’d come upstairs and see me moving the bed but you didn’t…..”
oh my three rascals. i guess adi isn’t the only one who loves the attention and now i know where she inherited it from. hahaha and don’t you love how my dad told jay it took 6 koreans to move the bed? not 6 people or 6 men, 6 koreans. so using my advanced math skills, i can assume that:
the strength of 6 koreans=jay.
i hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

I laughed out loud when I read the toilet story. You're a brave one to share that! And my husband does silly attention-wanting things like that too, and get put down when I don't notice. Aren't guys so funny?

Such cute stories about your daughters! They remind me of my 3-year-old!
I have an unrelated question for you about fabric (I'm asking you out of all the sewing blogs that I read because you seem so approachable and normal!)… When buying fabric online, how do you know how light or heavy the fabric is going to be? Are there certain key words to look for? Rebklandis -at- gmail.com Thanks!
