Independence Day

July 8, 2013~ Etc.

We spent the 4th of July very chill.  We would’ve usually gone to see the hot air balloon launch at 6 am or go see the parade, but with my 37 weeks pregnant body, the least amount of movement the better, so we slept in, swam in our backyard, had people over for a B.B.Q and lit up lots of fireworks.
Jay’s delicious steak, hamburger patties, hot dogs and spicy bratwursts.
grilled tomatoes is my favorite!
the kids had so much fun playing with all the fireworks
then our neighbor tried to out-do our awesome fireworks and kept blasting the huge fireworks high up in the air for almost 2 hours.  our fireworks lit up on the chair was obviously so much better.
We realized this year that our own backyard has the perfect view to watch the Stadium of fire fireworks!
I love my country. Hope you had a great 4th!

Cherry picking

July 4, 2013~ Etc.

I’ve been looking forward to go cherry picking all year and the day finally came!  We went the very first day of the picking season of course and we are going back again in a few weeks.
We picked 20 lbs. of cherries.  And as always, Jay had to literally grab me and pull me away as I tried to pick the last bunch of cherries and begged him to let me pick for just one more minute.  I think I’m addicted to cherry picking, ya’ll.  And I’m not ashamed to admit it!

Mike’s mission call

June 28, 2013~ Etc.

*This post is in partnership with Skype.  Thank you for supporting this blog!

Two years ago, my little brother-in-law Mike got his mission call for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.  He turned in his application and within a few weeks received a thick envelope containing information about where he will be serving for the next 2 years of his life.  It could be within the states, or worldwide, and we were all anxious to see where he would go!  We gathered his friends and family that lived near us but for his parents and siblings that were in Hawaii and couldn’t make it, we used Skype(http://skypestaytogether.com/) so they could also participate in the exciting moment when Mike would open up the envelope and read out loud his destination to all of us.

And guess where he got called to!  The Hong Kong, China mission!  He just finished his mission and he’s now back and it’s so crazy how fast those two years went by!  Adi and Ana were only 3 and 2 years old and now my oldest will start Kindergarten this Fall.  I can’t believe I will have a Kindergartner in just a few months!
Welcome home Elder Mike, we are so proud of you!

camping

June 27, 2013~ Etc.

We went camping for one night with our friends and their two kids.  Everyone was telling me how brave I was for going camping at 8 months pregnant, and I thought, what’s the big deal?  It won’t be so bad… but once we got there, WHAT WAS I THINKING? was what I was thinking throughout the trip.  Our group made quiet the pair with our friend having a leg boot and limping his every step while I’m on the side wobbling around with my giant belly.

the farthest Achilles got in the water.  this boy hates getting wet!
I love eavesdropping on their conversations, little kids talk about the cutest things.

We had a ton of fun but it did take us a full day to recover. We decided that camping’s not worth it unless you go for at least 2 days with all the packing, setting up, planning and the time you put into it.  So I can’t wait to go camping a lot next Summer, especially with our little son!
