Harry Potter

August 29, 2013~ Etc.

One Saturday afternoon, I received new glasses in the mail that I had ordered online.  But it was way smaller and way rounder than I had anticipated!  I showed it to Jay and the girls and told them how I looked like Harry Potter, and I was definitely returning the glasses.  Jay kept telling me I looked fine and it didn’t look too bad.  Well, I took a nap later and when I woke up and went out of the room, Jay and the girls kept snickering so I looked in the mirror and found this on my forehead.  Jay had snuck in the bedroom and drew it on my forehead while I was sleeping!  I got different glasses since then but whenever I put my glasses on, the girls still call me Harry Potter.
And yes, that is a big red zit next to it, thanks for noticing.  Jay told me he was being thoughtful and didn’t draw right on top of it but drew right next to it instead, so not to hide my “other beautiful mark”.  Thanks babe, how thoughtful of you.

Brazilian Limeade

August 23, 2013~ Etc.

We had dinner at a friend’s house and she made this drink which we fell in love with.  It is so easy to make and delicious!  We’ve been making it almost every time we have people over for dinner ever since.
Brazilian Limeade
  • 2 cans 14 oz. sweetened condensed milk
  • 3 limes
  • water
  • pitcher
Fill up the pitcher with water.  Pour the milk, and squeeze the lime juice in.  Mix well.  Serve with crushed ice.

Farmers market

August 21, 2013~ Etc.

Last week Aiden and I took our first outing to the farmers market.  We didn’t buy any produce but bought instead kettle corn, pastries, and ice-cream.  That’s what farmers markets are for, right?

Aiden’s first photo shoot

August 15, 2013~ Etc.

Aiden at only one day old had his very first photo shoot in the very room I delivered and recovered from the hospital.  I mean, even if we weren’t recovering at the hospital and had our pictures taken there, and we knew the photographer wanted to snap a picture of Jay and I too, I would’ve wore my fancy bathrobe for the photo shoot anyway!;) A friend told me about how hospitals here in UT county provide photo shoots complimentary upon your request, and you can view your photos and order them later if you’d like, and I had completely forgotten about it until I saw an ad on my hospital mirror about the service.  I quickly told my nurse and Mike from Bella Baby Photography showed up at the door that very morning!  Aiden wasn’t the happiest baby that morning but Mike was so patient and so kind and the shoot took less than 15 minutes.  I’m so happy I got beautiful professional photos of my baby in less than 24 hours he was born!

I looked into Bella Baby Photography more and turns out it was started not long ago by a single mother who had an idea of providing professional photos of your baby at the very hospital you’re at, and after many phone calls to hospitals, she finally found one in Chicago who agreed to let her in.  Now, Bella Baby services in over 40 states and 250 hospitals nationwide.  I’ve told a few of my pregnant friends about this service, and they all had no idea so if you didn’t know before, make sure to ask your nurse if they provide the service at your hospital!

The tooth fairy door

August 14, 2013~ Etc.

Jay was brushing Adi’s teeth one night when both of Adi’s front two teeth fell out.  Jay and the girls screamed in excitement as I stood there with tears dripping down my face.  I’d like to blame it on being 9 months pregnant, but no, I’m pretty sure I would’ve cried even without the pregnancy hormones.  She is only 5 1/2 years old.  Isn’t she way too young to be losing her teeth already?  I just couldn’t believe it.  Time was going by way too fast and I felt so helpless as there was nothing I could do to control it.
After we were able to calm the girls down at the prospect of the tooth fairy visiting and putting her two teeth under her pillow, they finally fell asleep.  As Jay and I came out of their room I said to him, “Oh shoot, I should’ve gone to the bank and got some cold coins!  I didn’t think her teeth were going to fall out this soon!” and to that Jay replied, “I already went to the bank and got gold coins.”  “When?” I asked.  “As soon as her teeth were becoming loose.” Jay said.
It was really late at night, and I was ready to put some gold coins under Adi’s pillow and call it good and go to bed.  But no, Jay had another idea in his mind.  He wanted to build a fairy door that the fairy could travel through, and also make sure the tooth fairy wrote Adi a legit tooth fairy letter.  So I watched my tall, muscular husband build a tiny little fairy door using his giant hands(our friends also all agree how big his hands are) as he built a fairy door and put little stickers, glitters, ribbons, tiny pearls and jewels with hearts and flowers on them.  He had never looked more manly or sexy to me as he did that night.  After 1 hour and 45 mins. later at almost 2 a.m, Adi had a legit letter from the tooth fairy, gold coins, and the fairy door near her bed.
Jay improvised using this doll house kit that was lying around forever
not too shabby for improvising with whatever we had at the last minute!  only the tooth fairy could open and close the door and this is how the tooth fairy was able to come to our house to pay Adi a visit.
Gosh, how can I not adore this husband of mine?
