A lovely weekend

October 6, 2009~ Etc.

We had a wonderful weekend filled with wonderful friends. While the boys were in Priesthood, we had our usual GNO(girls night out) at my house and ate tons and tons of food and played Colors. Our beloved friends came over to watch Conference on Saturday and Sunday as we ate waffles, spam, kettle corn, chocolate, dumpling soup, sour patch, skittles, and ice-cream. Oh how I love good food! And good friends too of course. 😉

I’m so grateful for General Conference. How blessed are we for having God speak to us in this generation? Many people think of Prophets as people way back in the day who have been long existent. I’m so glad that God is the same yesterday, today and forever and he doesn’t have favorites. He loved the people long ago and spoke to them and he loves the people in our generation so he speaks through the Prophets today. I know at General Conference the Prophets speak the word of God.

My size 25 pants

October 6, 2009~ Etc.

So I ordered online these khaki skinny pants thinking it was a size 25″ waist pants. But little did I know I had ordered a size 25. I was too busy looking at my other stuff I got along with these pants until Jay points out to the pants (while it was still folded and unopened) and says to me, “Hun, those look a little big…” I looked at the pants and opened it up and we just busted out laughing. I couldn’t stop laughing for a few days after that, just passing by the pants or even thinking about it made me bust out laughing. I guess this was my airhead moment. Crap!

Can these pajamas get anymore F.O.B? I don’t think so. Even Adalie seems to know it.

Apple Cobbler and Banana Bread

September 28, 2009~ Etc.

I made apple cobbler last week and Jay loved it so much that’s all he’s been talking about. And he asked me to make some today so I did. I made it 2 hrs. ago and it’s gone already. ^ ^ I also made banana bread and I love the smell that’s permeating throughout the house right now.

Apple Cobbler

6 T. butter
3/4 c. brown sugar
3/4 c. flour
1 c. oats
1 t. cinnamon
1/2 t. nutmeg
6 apples

Peel and cut up the apples. Melt butter, then add the ingredients and mix well. Pour the topping over the apples in a pan. Bake at 375 for 30 mins.

Banana Bread

1 c. butter
2 c. sugar
3 eggs
3 bananas (the blacker the better 🙂
1 c. buttermilk
2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1 t. vanilla extract
1/2 t. baking powder
3 c. flour

Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs, bananas, buttermilk, baking soda, salt & flour. Butter pan. Pour into two loaf pans. Bake at 300 degrees for 20 minutes, then at 325 degrees for 1 hour.

*I didn’t have any buttermilk so I looked up for substitution and found this recipe! Pour 1 T.white vinegar or lemon juice in a 1 c. measuring cup and fill the rest with milk to make 1 c. Let it sit for 5 mins.

I love Fall! But everytime this season comes around I get lonely easily, I eat a lot more and I want to read more. Is it just me?

“Mama fut fut?”

September 27, 2009~ Etc.

I was at the library a couple days ago with my two daughters and obviously it was very quiet and peaceful when out of nowhere without any warning Adalie says out loud, “MAMA FUT FUT?” (fut fut=fart fart)
I looked at her in bewilderment and said, “Adalie, (*chuckle*) mama didn’t fut fut.” as I glanced up to find a mom glancing up at me. I desperately wanted to say to her, “I didn’t fart, I promise!!!” But that would’ve done no good and it would’ve made me look more lame.
Darn kids. I don’t want to admit but I’m sure this is the first of many more embarrassing things my kids will say. Do you have any funny stories?
