taquitos+bibimbap+macaroons-hungry yet?

May 31, 2011~ Etc.

we had a laid back memorial day weekend.
jay was busy renovating our basement but he let me sleep in every single morning.
it was soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo nice.
wait, i don’t think that was enough o’s, let me add more oooooooooooo’s to that. šŸ˜‰
we had a friend over one night for dinner whose wifeless for a few weeks,
and had my parents over for dinner another night who just got back from out of town
which meant i was busy cooking.  i was hesitant to experiment with these recipes
for the first time when we were having guests but they all turned out really good!
baked creamy chicken taquitos
seafood bibimbap
macaroons
when a recipe asks for sweetened condensed milk-i’m SOLD.
the girls wanted to take pictures too.
or more like stealing the cookies while i was busy looking at the camera.
i also went to joann’s twice to buy some fabric but came out of the store empty both times.  there was this fabric i fell in love with so i wanted to make a dress but i needed 2 yards and it would’ve came out to $30.  but it was 50% off but with lining($5), zipper($3), thread($3),  it would’ve came out to $26.  am i just super frugal or is that expensive to you too?  i just got 2 dresses from banana republic for $20 each, and a dress from bebe for $10(thanks, sis) so why would i spend $26 for material when i buy dresses for less than that minus like 6 hrs. of sewing? that is one of the biggest reasons why i don’t make things from scratch but instead alter/re-design things from vintage stores/sales racks.  oh, but even thrift stores are expensive too! i get clothes on sale for less than what they offer and it’s brand new!  i wish i lived in LA where they have bunch of cool fabric stores with so many options! so i wanted to ask you if you know of any cool places to shop for fabric in store(in UT) or online? i know of joann’s, hobby lobby, ikea, wal mart and that’s about it. šŸ™ so if you could help a fellow seamstress out, i’d so appreciate it, por favor!

nu skin summer party

May 27, 2011~ Etc.

nu skin threw their annual summer party this year a couple weeks ago. they usually have it at lagoon but this year it was the water park. jay said it’s kind of weird to have it at a water park since he doesn’t really want to see any of the people he works with in their speedos or swimsuits.
well luckily, no one he knew wore a speedo but there was this one old man who did. i tried to take a picture with him passing by but jay took the picture precisely the moment he walked by behind me and it doens’t show any of him at all. bummer.

we invited our friends rachel and kyo and it was a lot of fun. oh the best part was all the food was free! they had free nachos, fries, shaved ice, ice cream cones, hamburgers, chicken burgers, hot dogs, chips, and churros. we made sure we got all the food. yes the nachos, fries, shaved ice, ice cream cones, hamburgers, chicken burgers, hot dogs, chips and the churros. šŸ˜‰

ana eating the churros, an ice-cream cone, and nachos at the same time.
can she be any cuter?

good thing jay ducked down or else adi wouldn’t
have made it in the picture.
there’s hardly any space above her head. nope.
at first when we got the picture, my thought was, “wait…i swear my swimsuit doesn’t have stripes in the back…”
but upon closer examination i realized it was jay’s giant gorilla hands.
this picture sums us up pretty accurately however.
ana’s in a food coma, adi’s a poser and jay’s happy because his whole head made it in the picture without having to duck down.
have a beautiful weekend and on monday I’ll have my DIY project posted!

anniversary date

May 27, 2011~ Etc.

we went on our anniversary date tonight and it was wonderful.
it was actually a family date since my parents are out of town which means no babysitters haha.
top c/o romwe
ate lots of good food
adi drank 3 different kinds of fancy lemonades and was in heaven
tried to take pictures of just jay and i but the kids wouldn’t leave our sight
but we finally got one that we set on timer by distracting the kids, “look at those oranges!”
and finished the date with 3 rounds of merry go rounds for the girls.
and in one of the pictures you’ll see ana looking up while adi is smiling at us.  ever since she was a little baby, she was always interested in what moves things and how things work.  if she finds a missing screw on the door, she looks around the floor for the missing screw and tries to screw it with her little fingers.  when we bought her a dora bike, while adi was busy sitting on the chairs and telling us to hurry up, ana was holding the screw driver and trying to help us assemble it together.  when we went to disney land, on every ride she was more interested in looking at the top or the middle where it held everything together than to look around the scenary.  it fascinates me how while our two girls are raised in the same environment by the same parents, they have such different and unique personality and traits.  like they’re born with those distinctives.  but it makes sense to me since we lived before we came to this earth and have developed those things beforehand.  and i love how alike and different our two girls are.  it makes the house so much more fun.

i l♄ve u more…

May 26, 2011~ Etc.

A poem I wrote for my wifey two christmases ago.  Click to enlarge.

Call it digital PDA, but I l♄ve my wifey. From the top of her head to the tips of her toes, I think she is the most beautiful and sweet woman in the world. I was head over heels for her 4 years ago when we got married and I am head over heels for her today. In the past 4 years, a lot has gone on in our relationship; we have a 3.5 year old, crack us up, life of the party daughter in Adi and a 2 year old very opinionated, sensitive, cuddlebug in Ana. We’ve lived in 3 different houses and the walls in each place will tell you that we’re not perfect, but we’ve weathered the ups and downs of learning to coexist with each other and l♄ve each other more and more each day and I think that’s what marriage is all about. Home is where your heart is and a house is not a home without a daily dose of l♄ve from my wifey. I l♄ve how sweet you are to me and how much you sacrifice for me on a daily basis. I l♄ve everything about you and catch myself always thinking about you in everything I do. I look forward to many more anniversaries to come…

jay and i got married 4 years ago today.

but boy, was i wrong.  and as you know, that doesn’t happen too often. šŸ˜‰
