You know you’re a mother when…

April 20, 2012~ Etc.

  • Your husband sees you before going to work and comes home to find you looking exactly the same.  Mirror? What’s that?
  • Vacation means doing chores for 10 minutes without getting interrupted.
  • Vacation means going grocery shopping alone.  Hallelujah!
  • Vacation means going to the bathroom to do your business and your kids let you do your business, alone for once.  It’s a miracle!
  • Your favorite times of the day are when the kids nap, your husband comes home from work, and when the kids are in bed.
  • You feel so used.  For your boobs.
  • You tell your husband you need to go to the bathroom and you. take. your. sweet. time. and pretend you’re “going” for the whole 20 minutes.
  • You can recite all the words to the songs like Dora the Explorer, Strawberry shortcake, Peppa Pig, and Yo Gabba Gabba, your FAVORITE.
  • You put your finger in your baby’s diaper to check if it’s pee or poo, hoping its not the latter.
  • When your finger touches something warm and mushy, you think, “man, I knew I shouldn’t have put my finger in!”
  • But the next day… You do it again.
  • You forgot what it feels like to be bored or have nothing to do.
  • You wake up in the morning and your first thought is, “What should I feed my kids for breakfast?”. Instead of, “I need to go pee!”
  • Your clothes are considered clean as long as there’s no pee, snot, booger, poo, or vomit on them.  Chocolate on the shirt?  Leave it, it smells good!  As long as it’s not poop!
  • You look forward to every holiday, even the little ones you didn’t care for before.  Holidays are so much fun with kids.
  • You look at your child and think of the love you have for this child, and you feel dizzy and your heart feels like it’ll explode because your heart is too small to contain the love you have for this child of yours.
  • You’ve been gone for only two hours and you miss your children so much your heart aches.
  • You’re not with your kid and everything reminds you of them.  “Oh, my kid would love to eat this, oh, my kid would love to do that!”
  • You’re willing to die for your child at any given moment, and it’s never even been a question.
  • You go lie next to them in the middle of the night and silently cry because you didn’t play with them more, had more energy, or was patient with them enough.
  • You say, “Time for bed!” and you find your child in her room, putting on her pajamas all by herself and you cry because you realize that little by little, she’ll depend on you less and less.  That the long-awaited day when they become more independent so you can get more of a break, is approaching way too fast and it doesn’t sound so tempting after all.

Candy Hogger & Bijou Market

April 16, 2012~ Etc.

Remember when we went to an Easter egg hunt last week hosted by Jay’s work?  These are the pictures they posted on their website.  Jay’s co-workers have been giving him a hard time ever since.
Yes, we take these easter egg hunts very seriously, people!  But we do not grab the eggs for the girls, we’re just next to them to supervise.  We went to one last week where there weren’t that many eggs and there was this dad who was grabbing as many eggs as he could for his little boy and got so many in his boy’s basket while all the other kids only got a few.  There was even a boy who didn’t get any eggs so he was crying pretty loud and Ana was kind enough to give him 1/2 of her eggs(which was 2, Adi only got 2 eggs).  But I couldn’t help but wonder why he would do something like that?  People that are not courteous/respectful to others or don’t have common decency get on my nerves. Oh well, I hope the dad doesn’t think it was worth making all the kids sad and making a boy cry! 😛

Moving on…. I got dressed on saturday to go to the Bijou Market with my friends, feeling like my outfit was pretty cute… until I walked out of my room and Jay says to me, “Oh, I didn’t know you were going proselyting!”(proselyting=missionaries who go knocking on doors to share the gospel, because the mid-calf length or longer skirt used to be the requirement when I was a sister missionary for our church.)  Whatever.  I like my mid-calf length skirt, thank you very much! :p

My friend found some vintage heels, and I got a handmade doll.  Score! 🙂

Did you go to the Bijou Market?

California Pizza Kitchen.

April 11, 2012~ Etc.

(hahaha, I laugh at myself everytime I look at this picture.  so serious…..)
(Black peplum top c/o Romwe.)
Do any of you mothers out there get excited to dress up to go out?  Even if it’s just out to dinner with the family at a casual restaurant?  Well, that’s me.  Since I’m mostly in my t-shirt and leggings all day at home.  If I know I don’t have to get out of the house that day, I don’t even bother to look in the mirror or put make-up on, or change for that matter.  Jay would come home from work to find me exactly the same as when he left the house in the morning.   It’s kind of ironic that the one person I should dress up for and look cute for, I don’t, but when I go out in public, that’s when I put make-up on and dress up(not that I dress for other people, I dress for me to feel my best out in public).
And are any of you mothers tired of making dinner every night?  It’s only been (almost) 5 years since I’ve been married and yet, I’m already tired of planning/shopping/making dinner every night! What am I going to do for the next 50+ years?
So last night we went to CPK, and I just love it when I don’t have to cook and I get to eat someone else’s cooking!
Ana: “Mommy!  Can I get on the horse?”
Did you know that I worked at CPK at the Beverly Hills Center in LA one summer, and on my last day of work I met Usher?  I got to usher Usher to his table, how cool is that? 😉

Easter Sunday.

April 10, 2012~ Etc.

We woke up on Easter Sunday to find Easter baskets filled with goodies for us three girls from the “Easter bunny” a.k.a Jay.

For Adi: bubble gum, princess tattoos, a sequin purple shirt, chocolate bunny, princess frisbee.
For Ana: lollipops, a sequin blue shirt, chocolate bunny, chocolate eggs, a giant princess pencil.
For me: dove dark chocolate bunny, cadbury eggs, a shop card.  he knows exactly what I like! 😉
Grandma from Hawaii sent us an Easter package filled with goodies, including these Hawaiian dresses for the girls.  Thanks grandma!
And guess what the Easter bunny got Jay for Easter! 😉
Achilles spent Easter… sleeping.  all day.
Then after church, the girls decorated eggs and helped me make rice krispy eggs…
while Achilles slept some more.
Easter Rice Krispy Eggs with a surprise inside!

Easter Rice Krispy Eggs with a surprise inside!

*Recipe can be found in this post.
We watched Ana stare and smile at the chocolate bunny for 3 minutes straight.
Hope you all had a lovely Easter!
