Cherry picking

July 22, 2014~ Etc.

We did our annual cherry picking this year and it was extra special because my sister and her kids got to come with us!  We planned on going in the morning before it gets too hot but then something came up and then my nephew took a nap, and then soon after he woke up my son took a nap so by the time we were able to get out of the house it was around 3pm, the hottest time of the day!
my nephew is so adorable, isn’t he?
Ana helped me pick the leaves out of the cherries.
pick the stem too to keep the cherries fresh a lot longer!
We picked over 30 lbs. of cherries and this time my husband only had to ask me to stop picking two times!  That is a huge improvement in my book.  If it wasn’t so hot, I wouldn’t have stopped so willingly. πŸ˜‰  See our cherry picking in 2013 & 2012.

Cherry picking

July 4, 2013~ Etc.

I’ve been looking forward to go cherry picking all year and the day finally came!  We went the very first day of the picking season of course and we are going back again in a few weeks.
We picked 20 lbs. of cherries.  And as always, Jay had to literally grab me and pull me away as I tried to pick the last bunch of cherries and begged him to let me pick for just one more minute.  I think I’m addicted to cherry picking, ya’ll.  And I’m not ashamed to admit it!

You're hilarious! =) "addicted" But I have to admit, I think I am, too. Well, not cherries because I don't think we even have any around here…but I love picking blueberries and strawberries, and apples! Seriously. Can't strawberry-pick right now (they're in season)…I've been "told" it's too much in the hot sun for a pregnant lady, lol. But, hopefully I'll be able to hit the blueberry season in August! If baby comes when I want it to, hehe.
    And you do look fabulous!

Cherry picking.

July 10, 2012~ Etc.

Every time we go cherry picking, I have the hardest time controlling myself to stop picking those darn cherries!  Jay has to say to me, “Hun, 20 more minutes of picking, and we gotta go.”, “10 more minutes!”, “5 more minutes!” and then “Okay, we gotta go now, come on!” Then I beg him to let me pick for just 15 more minutes, then 10 more minutes, and then 5 minutes, and it goes on.  He has to come and literally get me off the ladder as I try to grab as much as I can while he’s pulling me away from me and my precious cherries.
But after almost 2 hours of picking and getting 18+ lbs. of cherries, I guess I was satisfied.  For now anyway.  Next, we’re going raspberry and blackberry picking!

up here in spokane there is a cherry pit spit contest at a local growers community outside of town called greenbluff. i totally want to enter. the house i grew up in had a cherry tree. my husband and i grew up in the same neighborhood and have known each other since we were 5…so that is a lot collective of cherry pit spitting experience! p.s. i love winco.

yes, the grocery store! i noticed your cherry picking bags : )we have them up here too and i am in love with the bulk food section. we stock up on quinoa, popcorn, nuts, etc. i even like bagging my own groceries. oh, and question: ours has local honey on tap in these wooden boxes and there are signs that read "do not lift lid. bees will escape." is that for real?? i am always tempted to try it and find out, but the signs are all official looking (like not hand written) so i'm afraid it might be legit, haha!
