I was reminiscing about my mission today and I’ve decided to share the miracles I witnessed on my mission every Sunday for the next little bit here on my IG!
While serving a LDS mission when I was 21 yrs. old, my companion and I visited an older lady who no longer came to church. As soon as we stepped inside her small living room and sat next to the old heater & this lady in diapers, the smell of urine and feces was so eminent, especially for me with an acute sense of smell. It was so poignant, I didn’t dare open my mouth, for I knew I would taste it and most likely vomit.
As I listened to my companion speak to this sweet old lady, I felt guilty that I hadn’t really said a word except to nod and smile. I desired to speak to her, to share with her words of comfort and to let her know God loves her and is aware of her. So I said a simple, silent prayer, “Heavenly Father, please take this smell away from this room so that I can speak to her.” As soon as I said those words, even before I said an amen, the smell completely disappeared.
I shared with her scriptures and we talked with her for about 30 mins., and we left her home with all of us in the room feeling edified and happy. Never once did I smell anything for those 30 mins., but as soon as we left her house, my sense of smell all came back.
