Well guys, my due date is exactly in one week. You’d think since this is my 3rd child I wouldn’t be as nervous, but as time is getting near by, I’m getting nervous! Mainly excited to meet this little boy of mine but nervous about labor and all that fun stuff. With my previous two births, whenever I’d get nervous and scared I would say to myself, “Well, I don’t know one single person who’s died from giving birth, so as long as it doesn’t kill me, I guess I’ll be okay.” but now I can’t say that anymore because unfortunately, I know one amazing lady who’s recently passed away giving birth to her 6th child. I cried for 4 days straight. So I don’t have anything I can tell myself to make me feel less scared. I guess all I can do is pray to God that everything will be okay.
I googled “what to pack for the hospital bag” and the list seems to be endless and overwhelming(boppy, pads, underwear, bathing suit for your partner, newborn book, snacks, change, gifts for older siblings and photos of the older kids so they know you haven’t forgotten about them, a journal, baby nail clipper…) and it was making me so overwhelmed that I just stopped reading and packed only the basic necessities. I didn’t pack gifts for my other two kids(or any of the items mentioned above), I hope they don’t feel left out or unloved! If you have any one item that you were so glad you brought or wish you had brought with you to the hospital, please share, I’d appreciate it so much.
*deep breath* Okay baby, I’m ready for you!

I know who you are talking about, such a sad situation! π
Chin up! You will be just fine and all will be well. Pray for strength and calmed nerves. Good luck!

You will do great! And love that dress on you! I wish we would have brought the hand mittens for our baby girl. We ended up putting socks on her hand they kept falling off because they were too big, then she would end up scratching her face! But just like you I only packed the necessities and was perfectly happy with it and a lot less stressed out!

The pics are so cute of you! You will be fine, but I'm praying for you and your little guy that all will be well!
I remembered googling that as well and taking SO much stuff but I only used the basics.

I was way more nervous with my second baby than my first. Ignorance really was bliss going into labor that first time. Best of luck to you. Many prayers your way.
My number one, must have, had it with both children, would not go to the hospital without it, item is: nutella!!! Something about enjoying fresh fruit dipped in nutella while snuggling a newborn really just completes the blissful moment. π
I gotta say though, I was really bored at the hospital this last time. We don't have any family around to come visit and my husband was home with our toddler and newborns sleep A LOT. I'd have liked a good book to read while I waited for the doctors to give me the go ahead on going home.

Ok, this is totally embarrassing but I forgot shampoo and conditioner after the birth of my daughter.

What to pack. Underwear won't cut it with those hospital pads. For my second pregnancy, I bought along tight girdle-type underwear to use to keep them in place, from bunching up and shifting etc. It also felt better with my c-section, but helped to keep my midsection in later on.
Also, you can try ask the nurse for a βdonutβ cushions can help relieve the pain of stitches after a vaginal birth.
You'll be fine! Best wishes!!

Oh, I so feel with you! Everything will go well, you will see! And then you will hold your little one and all worries will be gone π
Well, as a first time mom I took EVERYTHING with me. The things I was happy I had: the basics (change of clothes for me, hubby and baby, toiletries, money, phones + chargers), snacks (for the hubby during labor- and secretly I ate some too!) and I was sooo glad I had my laptop with me, so I could skype with my parents and siblings (even though I can't even remember it now hahhaa)
you will do great and be fine!!!

if I could do it again, I'd take all of my favorite FOOD haha! I gave birth in a birthing center and was starving after! I suppose I could have asked the hubby to buy me some but I was too pathetic and tired to even say anything. There's nothing like chowing down on comfort food to make you feel better! π I am so excited for you, Sarah! Take care!

you can do it!!!! best of luck to you

Oh gosh those websites tell you to bring EVERYTHING I swear! Things that you never owned to begin with! Ignore! You'll only be there for a very minimal stay…I was glad I brought my comfortable sweats for afterwards (warm jacket because the room was so cold and my sweatpants with stretchy waist band) and my own personal pillow to keep me comfortable in that bed. (And of course my phone charger so I could keep in touch with the world).
Good luck Sarah and Jay! Welcome your new little one!

So sad, yes. But thank you for your prayers!

Thank you! After reading your comment, I looked for hand mittens and put it in my bag. I had totally forgotten until you mentioned it but I remember seeing pictures of my second daughter that was taken right before we brought her home and she had a big scratch on her face. So thanks for reminding me!
Sarah says
Thank you Sara!

How terrifying that you no someone who passed away giving birth. So sorry to hear that. I don't have any children yet, so I can't really offer any amazing insight. I do a lot of yoga and meditation, though, which helps me calm down when I get nervous about anything. I hope you have find music, or some "motto" or positive thought to keep in your head, or whatever works for you! They say third time's the charm, so maybe this labor will be comparatively less strenuous for you. <3 Best wishes!
