sisterly love is a sisterly love.

March 23, 2012~ Etc.

people have told me raising two kids only a year apart is harder than raising twins.  i wouldn’t know which is harder since i’ve never had twins, but what i know is that it was really, really hard.  my oldest was only 7 months old when i got pregnant with my younger one.  oh, she was still just a little baby herself and depended so much on me when she became a big sister.  she still depended so much on me and yet i expected so much from her.  and she has not let me down but have exceeded any expectation i’ve had of her as the role of a big sister.  and ana of course couldn’t be a more cuter, adorable, charming little sister that she is.
and the best part about having two girls a year apart?  they are the best of friends.  it’s so fun to see them be interested in the same exact things, liking the same toys, t.v shows, and clothes.  it makes me so happy when i see them sharing, loving, playing with each other.  it makes me so warm when i see them take care of each other, and protect each other.  and while the first two years were really hard, it’s actually easier now since they entertain and keep each other company and are so close!  they even share clothes which is going to save a lot of money! πŸ˜‰  so it was a small price to pay on my part for their endless friendship and such close relationship.
adi said to me a couple months ago, “mommy?  i’m the big sister and ana’s the little sister, huh?  well, i’m always gonna watch out for ana and always keep my eye on her.”
and boy, did she mean it!  the other day some kids called ana a not-so-nice name and she came to tell me what they said.  i told her it doesn’t matter what other people say because she knows, i know, and heavenly father knows that she is not what they said and it doesn’t matter what other people say.  feeling somewhat dissatisfied with my response, she went to her older sister adi to tell her what happened.  immediately, adi put on her shoes, went outside and went right up to the kids and as she put both of her hands on her hips she said, “hey!  no one calls my sister that, she is not!  if you keep calling her that, you guys are the one that is, okay?  you be nice to my sister!”  she repeated this line about 6 more times to make sure they got her point.  then they all played together happily.  i listened to the whole thing inside the house with the window cracked open, giggling and being so proud of her.  and being so grateful they are the sisters i always hoped they would be.

This is so cute. My sister and I are a year apart too and I wouldn't change it for anything. We are the best of friends, we have always shared our clothes, had the same friends, and tastes in everything. Makes life a lot more fun and sweet!

Good for you. It takes love and caring from a mom to raise love and caring children. Good job!!

So cute! Those pictures remind me of the photos my mom has of me and my sister. There are a lot of the "big sister hug-squishing little sister" – Ana looks a lot happier about it than my sister ever did.

What a sweet post. Your daughters will each have a best friend for life!

And as the older sister (my sis is 16 months younger) I can totally relate to being protective and defending against rude comments. πŸ™‚

My youngest two are 13 months apart. AND I LOVE IT!
It is harder than twins! But now that the are a little older (29 and 15 months) I find they are so sweet to each other and are the best of friends. And hey, matching outfits are a bonus! πŸ˜‰

sisterly love is a sisterly love.

September 29, 2011~ Etc.

i know many of you are costco lovers, but we’re sam’s club lovers.  (don’t hate! πŸ˜‰
they’re cheaper than costco. with everything.  churros, diapers, bread, beef jerky, you name it.
plus, my husband’s work is a block away from sam’s club which makes it very convenient
for him to just go grab something right after work before coming home.
and everytime we go together as a family, we get their hot dogs and pizza.
like ever single time without fail.  it’s not good.
but can you say no to a polish hot dog and a big refillable drink for $1.50?
i think not. πŸ˜‰
and lately, big sister has been into carrying little sister around like all. the. time.
she’s not that much bigger than the little one so it makes it extra adorable.
adorable enough, i guess, to make up for their crazy moodiness
they’ve been going through lately.
aw, my two little hapas.
(hapa=usually refers to 1/2 mixed ethnicity)
