My husband doesn’t like my outfits

July 15, 2013~ Etc.

*Petunia Pickle Bottom giveaway winner announced!

Let’s get one thing straight.  My husband doesn’t really like the way I dress.  Once in a blue moon he’ll say to me, “I like your outfit today, you look cute!”  and I’m always like, “This? You think THIS outfit is cute?” and I look down at my outfit and it’s the times when I just threw on my blue jeans, a plain t-shirt, and flat sandals. No styling, no personality, just boring.  Same thing with make-up too.  “I like your make-up today.” he’ll say.  “I’m not wearing any make-up!  I’ll say.  “Oh.  Well, I like when you’re not wearing make-up.”

It’s the times when I actually do think my outfit is cute he’ll say to me, “You are wearing THAT?”, or “I didn’t know you raided your grandma’s closet recently.” among many other comments as such.  So awhile ago, I started taking pictures of my outfits whenever he made fun of it.

Here are some of the outfits I’ve worn in the past and his comments to the outfits below.

“Have you become the horse whisperer?  Neigh~!” -referring to my horse print socks.
And every time I passed by him throughout the day, he would neigh into the air.

“Did Sesame Street ask you to try out for Big Bird?”

and the most recent, “Hey, I think NFL is having a try-out soon, you should try out!”  then he waited for me to walk into the living room and as soon as I entered, he turned on the song “Kiss from a Rose” by Seal on full blast and sings loudly to the part “Now that your rose is in bloom….” while pointing dramatically to the rose petals on my shoulders.  He continued to turn on the song and sing to me throughout the whole day every time I walked into the room he was in.
Now, my husband has a way of saying the most blunt things with tact and humor to anybody he pleases without them ever getting offended.  I honestly don’t know anyone else who can be so honest and gets away with saying anything he wants!  It’s truly a talent I tell ya.  So I don’t get offended at all, I just think it’s hilarious!  So stay tuned, I’m sure there will be more to come. πŸ˜‰

Wow…that is so sad. My husband has only occasionally asked, "You're wearing THAT?" and when I ask him what's wrong with it he invariable answers, "Nothing". Yup, okay, I'm going to change. Sigh. Men. They really crack me up sometimes. I so want to start posting some of my outfits on my blog but I can't get really good pictures of them. You are such an inspiration, though! =) I took a break from blogging until after Baby comes since I have a huge e-book project that I'm trying to get out before the end of August. Ahhhh…and Baby is coming somewhere in there, too, lol. Can't wait to see pictures of your little one – it must be soon for you!

Haha usually when I ask if he likes my outfits, there is a VERY long pause. Oh well πŸ™

HAHA! At least he's honest! My husband tells me that he likes me in anything, but then later asks, "why don't you wear something nice every once in a while?" And here I thought that I DO wear nice things! πŸ™‚

Oh my, that's hilarious! I think a lot of women can relate to this post, haha! My husband likes to tease me about wearing head bands (the ones that make you look like a "hippie") or when I wear a longer skirt underneath a short dress.

Lol! Thanks for the laugh! I'm one of those gals who admires fashion from afar…my daily look consists of blue jeans and a black tee or sweater. If dh says anything, it's that he wishes I'd wear more color. That's what accessories are for!

hahaha! My husband is the same. I usually ignore him–or make a comment about his tee-and-jean combo, or the fact that he usually wears the same shirt multiple days in a row "what?!" he'll say, "I love this shirt!" "its a classic" as if that excuses it πŸ˜›

oh my goodness…my deepest sympathies! I have a very similar style husband. What can you do but laugh and dress the way you want when he's not around πŸ˜‰

My MIL works for a famous shoe designer's mother. Occasionally the designer will be at his mother's house. One time my MIL & the designer were talking fashion and he said that women dress for other women, not for men. We (the girls in the family) have discussed this several times and we have come to the conclusion that, to a point, it's true. We have totally different taste in fashion than men do, I think. It is kind of disheartening sometimes when I feel great in my outfit and and my husband asks "you're wearing THAT?" When that happens I just ask him to take me shopping for something that he would like me to wear and maybe we can find some middle ground.

I dress the way I want at all times, so you're more thoughtful than I am! My husband wishes I dressed for him haha.

You know, that is so true. I dress mainly for myself and my style is more what other girls would like, and not men. And I'm perfectly okay with that! πŸ˜€ and that's a great idea, I'm gonna say that next time! any excuse for a shopping spree! πŸ˜‰

what a punk! lol, jk. but seriously – I think you look great. and it's only because jay has limited fashion sense due to growing up in L-town. my hubby's go-to outfit is usually the surf shorts/kahuku t-shirt while i'm dressed up every time we go out. and that's fine with me…he can dress how he wants and i'll dress how I want. keep up the cute outfits because everyone else appreciates it! =)
