My boob hurts and then I get bitter

May 29, 2014~ Etc.

Wasn’t that a catchy title?  Haha, but seriously guys, I’m not joking.  I don’t know if I have mastitis or thrush or what, but lately my boob has been hurting so bad.  Just one boob.  Only after I feed him.  About 10 minutes after I feed him, it starts to hurt, like someone’s holding 50 needles and is poking the inside of my boob over and over again.  It lasts for about an hour and the first 20 mins., I try to tough it out and lie on the bed with me grabbing my boob and screaming in pain when the pain hits every 30 seconds or so that lasts for about 6 seconds each.  It’s like a contraction in your boob.  Maybe my boob is having a baby, guys.  So the first 20 mins., I endure it pretty well but then after the 20 minutes, I get a little angry.  Then 30 mins. into it, I get super angry and bitter.  Every time Jay walks by I yell, “And you’ve never felt 1 ounce of pain!!!”  I’m laughing as I’m saying this but I am bitter that he’s not feeling any physical pain associated with his children.  Isn’t it so unfair that men have never felt even 1 ounce of pain of pregnancy, morning sickness, labor, epidural, IV, recovery, first poop after delivery, c-section, nursing, engorgement, weaning(I hear that’s really painful, I’m scared!) or episiotomy?  Seriously, doesn’t it make you mad?  It makes me sad.  Especially when 50 needles are poking my boob for an hour straight.  It makes me mad and bitter.
Anyway, there’s no other point to this story except to say it makes me mad.  If I had magic and could create any world I wanted, I would at least make men breastfeed if they’re not giving birth!  One or the other, that’s only fair!  The end.  End of rant.  Goodbye.

I don't know what you're going through, not having had children myself.. but I I love your blog and your little family are so blooming cute – just wanted to send you a virtual hug from across the pond. Dawn, West Sussex UK xx

crazy, I never had that pain. I do remember the first 8 weeks learning to breastfeed and it was so painful I used to bite my lip whenever my son latched on.

I hear you, the husbands get out of it easy! And my epidural didn't work πŸ™ and even though I went through all that pain, I still felt guilty making my husband get up to soothe the baby so I always used to. I agree with making them breastfeed haha, would be so funny watching them try and cope with that pain/stress!

I weaned my bub about a month ago (I returned to work), I had a couple of mornings I woke up engorged, but otherwise it was fine. I stopped day feeds slowly, leaving 1 night feed and 1 morning feed, then eventually dropped those too. I had little lumps in my boobs I was worried about but I just hand expressed them away in the shower.
Now I miss my boobs >.< haha

I say rant away, at least it helps when you vent πŸ™‚

Omg…I am so so sorry you have to go through this! Isn't there something your doctor can give you? :/ I stopped BFing a while ago, but I remembered the terrible pain from engorged boobs (although I loved how big and plump they looked) so I am sure this has got to be worse. Feel better mama!

Call you doctor! I just had mastitis, and it was worse than labor and delivery. The doctor might just call in a prescription for you.

It could be a clogged milk duct which happens before getting mastitis. I used to get them frequently and it's very uncomfortable. Google clogged milk ducts for treatment and info. I know you said you are feeling better but this will help for the future.
