My birthday

January 8, 2015~ Etc.

I had a wonderful birthday last week and here are all the things we did to celebrate!

Jay took me on a date to go eat sushi the night before my birthday.  And he makes this ridiculous face when he doesn’t really want to take pictures.  Which is pretty much all the time haha.

I woke up on my birthday to a breakfast the girls and Jay made for me and my presents.  I told the girls I wanted a card from them and they made me the cutest handmade cards.  One even made me a pop-up card!  Jay bought me an adjustable dress form I’ve been wanting, I am so excited to use it!

Jay invited all my family over for the best meal I’ve ever had of all my favorite foods: smoked salmon, crabs w/ butter, grilled pineapples & corn.  We just got a smoker and I’ve been telling him how I can’t wait to smoke salmon with it and it turned out so delicious.
I am so grateful for my family and for all my friends.  I felt so loved all day and I was feeling so much gratitude the whole day.  I think life gets better as you get older because of the new people you meet and the new friends you make, and your relationship with your old friends strengthens.  The older you get, the more people you love and care for.  My motto is always make friends and never enemies.  And to never hold a grudge or ill feelings towards anyone.  I think there is a direct correlation between how  much love you have in your heart to your happiness.  And of course the opposite is also true, how much hatred or resentment you have in your heart is directly correlated to your unhappiness.  Forming and strengthening relationships is what makes life so beautiful and worth living for.  My 30th year was my favorite year yet and I know my 31th will be even better than the last.  And I am one year wiser!  Woo hoo!  Or let’s hope so anyway. 😉

Happy birthday! Looks like you had a great time 🙂 would love to hear what you think about your new dress form. It's been on my wish list forever and I'm wondering if they are worth it.

My birthday

January 11, 2013~ Etc.

We celebrated my birthday quiet and simple- just the way I wanted it(not that I could’ve partied hard with my intense morning sickness and all).  Adi made me breakfast with a little help of dad, she really cooked the Portuguese sausage and eggs all by herself.  It was a tiny bit burnt, but nonetheless very delicious and the most darling thing I ever ate.  Then I lied in bed the rest of the day and managed to get out for dinner to one of my favorite spots, Trolley’s. They have the best salad and chicken wings ever!  I told Jay I didn’t want to receive any presents, so he made me a scrumptious strawberry ice-cream roll.  I remember when we were dating and we had a potluck to go to, and I watched him make this ice-cream roll from scratch. I’m sure it was his way of trying to impress me and well, he succeeded. 😉
The day after my birthday, Jay surprised me with a little lunch date!  He told me we were going to to eat lunch with his cousin that’s visiting from HI so he found a babysitter, and when the babysitter came, he told me it was actually just me and him going on a date!  We went to a Thai restaurant and laughed the whole time.  Thanks for a great birthday hun!

once upon a time there was a young girl recently graduated from high school learning how to cook. So she borrowed her mother's cook book and promptly lost it. little did she know that book had recipes scribbled in the margins from all of her mother's favorite dishes. Including ice cream roll. that they had every year for Christmas. since then, mother had tried so many recipes for ice cream roll but they always cracked when she rolled them and fell apart. daughter feels so bad and would love a chance to get a working recipe for mother. think you could help me out?

I agree! Recipe for the ice cream roll. Looks amazing. I'm not very impressive in the kitchen, but maybe I could impress my husband if I made that! 🙂

My Birthday

February 4, 2009~ Etc.

My birthday was on Jan.4th and I woke up to breakfast, 25 beautiful roses(every rose for every year, crap now you all know how old I am!) and a picture of Jay and I with a poem printed on it. The poem is incredibly sweet and written by Jay and I read it from time to time and it makes me teary eyed no matter how many times I read it. He is an excellent writer and a sincere, heart-felt poem was all I wanted for my special day. Then later that night we had friends over for cake and ice-cream.

Poor Adalie…she was really sick that whole week. You would never tell by her happy face in this picture.
Adalie would get on the toy car and point at Nolan to get on too.
My little family. Soon it’ll be four of us.

With family.

Plus a girlfriend. 😉

This was the ONLY time Adalie laughed, when kicking a ball with uncle Colby.

With my beautiful girlfriends.

Thanks for a great birthday Jay! I love you.
