Mother like daughter

January 31, 2014~ Etc.

I came out of my room after getting dressed today, and my 6 year old daughter looked at me up and down, then quietly went to her room and came out after a few minutes in her new outfit.  She said to me, “Mom, do you have gold boots?”  She was dressed in a red sweater with lace hem, mint pants and gold boots.  I quickly went to my shoe rack and grabbed these gold shoes to put on.
“Mom, put your feet like this so you can see our matching gold shoes!”
My outfit: sweater | jeans: DIY | gold flats
Her outfit: sweater: h&m | necklace | mint jeans: levi’s | gold boots
It’s really cute but really scary at the same time that my girls try to be just like me.  I see my girls observing me and trying to mimic my moves when we have dance parties together.  I see my girls observing me putting my make up on and ask if they can put on some make up too.  They want to wear dangly earrings like me. When they see a dress they really love in my closet, they ask me to save it for them so they could wear it when they’re my size.  They use the vocabulary words that I use, some that I’d rather have them not use.

But it’s just the right motivation and the pressure I need to want to be a better person for them.  They’re still at that sweet, innocent stage where they think their mommy knows everything, but I hope I can be the person that they’d be proud to follow, even after they get older and realize all the imperfections I have.

Aww so precious. Such a beautiful sweater…I was scrolling down expecting you to say…yea, I made this thing. Looks homemade and I love it ๐Ÿ™‚ Can't wait til my little one gets to that age, but then again, she's already copying my gestures so I'm definitely more aware of my attitude and conversations around her.

It's so cute that she wants to dress like you. I'm sure it's a lot of pressure, but I see your daughters bringing you so much joy (and your son), so I'm sure it's worth it for you. ๐Ÿ™‚
