happy

May 6, 2011~ Etc.

i’m happy.
last week i was desperately looking for an elastic waist pleated skirt for my t.v segment.  i ordered one, it ended up being an accordion skirt, and by then with only 2 days left ’till the show, it was too late to order one.  so i went to two thrift stores and found nothing.  disheartened, i prayed to God that i would find the perfect pleated skirt for the segment.  The next day, the last day before the segment, i had a feeling to go to one of the thrift stores i went to the day before.  they must’ve had new shipments in because i found the perfect skirt.  i’m happy that God answers prayers.
it was that time of the month!  thus my insecurities! i had no idea where it came from and was shocked by my lows because i usually don’t fret over such things and i’m a very happy, confident person.  i looked back at the t.v segment and now i’m like, “yeah, i could’ve looked better but whatever, who cares? people are looking at my DIY projects, not me.  and there were some moments i could’ve talked better/explained better but hey, with the circumstance that was given, i didn’t do so bad!” haha oh dang PMS, you…

adalie did a little mother’s day performance for me today at her preschool.  i teared up a little.  she gave me a purse shaped card that she decorated with sparkly flowers and on the inside were written, “she’s special to me because…”
1. we make flowers.
2. she hugs me in the morning.
3. she makes me basagna(lasagna).

this gift means more to me than any other gifts i’ve ever received(sorry hubby, i love you).  it makes me teary eyed just looking at it again, i think i’ll save it and frame it.  i remember growing up and making homemade cards for my mother along with small gifts and thinking how this was so small and lame and wished i had more money to buy her more extravagant gifts.  my mom always told me how much she loved it and how this was all she wanted.  now i know she wasn’t lying.  it really is all i wanted.
to all the mothers out there,
you are beautiful and amazing.
happy mother’s day.
(picture taken 2 yrs. ago one morning when jay literally held me bound and swaddled me
with a blanket after doing the same to my two girls as he said, “my three little girls.”)

That is really a sweet picture. This one should be for the album.

I think I have been lurking around your blog for a looonnnnggg time, I never miss your posts. I viewed your interview. I knew you were nervous as it was your first time but I think you did very well, and I think those who hasn't known you via your blog will be in awe with the pieces you presented on the show and want to know more about you! Great work!

    Sarah,
I loved your tv segment. I thought you explained everything find. I was in love with that white dress and have been meaning to try it with a skirt that I got at a clothing swap a few months back. Anyway, happy mothers day. I love the pic of you and the girls swaddled together. That is surely one to treasure.

Sarah, you amaze me, you really do! I still want you to teach me how to sew! And I wanted to let you know that I LOVED your segment on Studio 5. I was so excited when I saw you on there, you looked gorgeous. James even stopped to watch the "girl we went to the puppet show with." I feel bad, my phone broke and I had to reprogram it and lost my numbers, so I haven't been able to call. We need to get together again, so call me when you get a chance. Honestly though, all these clothes you make are beautiful. I am constantly in awe.

I loved your tv segment too, but I totally understand where you're coming from. I beat myself up over things like that all the time(not that I've ever been on tv… but you know what I mean). It's I know it's silly, but not in the moment. (ok… sometimes in the moment I know it's silly too) I seriously went out the next day to DI to try to find a pleated skirt. No luck though.
Maybe you were having a hard time finding a skirt and experiencing other tough things so that you could have that simple reminder of the power of prayer.
Also, I love reading about the love between you and your family. Reading about your mother's day card made me tear up a bit. (Let's face it everything nowadays is making me tear up, being pregnant and all…. doesn't make it any less sweet though.) I can't wait until my daughter makes things like that for me.
Also, that picture is so cute and it cracked me up. What a fun family!
    (Holy LONG comment!)

Loved this post πŸ™‚ I appreciate your optimism. And God does answer prayers. I'm glad you were able to find a great skirt!

Reading about your sweet little girl and her card to you (can't wait for my little guy to get old enough to write:)…and looking at that precious photo of your husband's "three little girls" all bundled up…made my heart smile.

    Happy Mother's Day to you!

I actually found your blog because I was super impressed by your TV segment! I was totally glued to the TV and thinking, "This girl is awesome and so stylin'–turning everyday stuff into amazing Anthropologie knockoffs!" So glad I saw the segment!
