Father’s Day

June 17, 2013~ Etc.

On Father’s Day, we taught our Primary for the last time at church(since I’m going to have a baby soon) so we had a donut party and made Father’s Day cards.  And these are some pictures of the rest of our day.
Jay’s requested breakfast: bacon, eggs & rice
the girls and I made cards for Jay and my dad(and also a little video for Jay)
Jay got a watch from me & the girls
adi played catch with grandpa for a long time
with two fathers I love and respect so much
love achille’s always curled-up tail!
My mom is out of town and I’m the only child that lives near my dad, so I got to celebrate two fathers all on my own for Father’s Day.  It was fun and exhausting getting two presents, making two separate dinners(both have strong preferences for what they eat or wanted to eat), and making cards for two, but mostly it was  because I was just so tired!  These days it’s hard for me to walk(I don’t even try not to wobble anymore when I walk, I just let it all hang out and wobble as much as I want!) and I seem to be always out of breathe when I’m not even doing anything so I was exhausted by the end of the day.  But I’m very lucky to celebrate for two wonderful fathers I know in my life and living so close to my dad.

I always wanted to marry someone like my dad who not only is very hard working but appreciates and knows how to do hard physical labor, someone who is a handy-man and knows how to fix things, smart, honest, spiritual, loving, forgiving, and patient and luckily, I got all that in my husband.  Jay’s so hard working that he has a problem with just sitting and relaxing, he’s always doing something or fixing something, he is the least lazy person I know, he built 3 houses from ground up with his dad growing up so he knows how to do hard physical labor(and I’m so grateful for his parents who saw the importance in that and taught him), he is very smart and knows all my or the kids’ random questions such as, “I wonder what road work they’re doing over there?”-“well, they’re drilling holes for the sewer pipes because…..they’re using a machine ___, and it’ll take them about 2 weeks to complete it.”, “why is the sky blue?”-“well, the tiny molecules in the air travel….the blue light travels in smaller waves….” while my answer would’ve been, “because Heavenly Father made the sky blue?” haha.  I am so grateful Jay is the father of my children and I’m immensely grateful for all my 3 wonderful fathers in my life, my dad, my husband, and my father-in-law.  They are all amazing men that I admire and respect so much.

I hope every Father had a wonderful Father’s Day!

Those heart-shaped rice balls are the cutest idea ever! I also love those tie cards. And now of course I'm craving Krispy Kreme's like a mad woman.

Ahhhh! I totally know how you feel! Just on Sunday I realized how much I'm wobbling and didn't even care anymore. And the whole out-of-breath, exhausted all.the.time thing? Oh yeah, I hear ya! Love how you celebrated Father's Day, though. I'm so sad because our camera card fell apart in my hands as I was transferring it to the computer to put our pics from the weekend on it! No more pictures. Loved seeing yours, though. And I absolutely love that dress and sweater you're wearing. You have the most adorable clothes!

Father’s day.

June 18, 2012~ Etc.

Hahaha, this picture is so awkward, I love it!  To celebrate father’s day, I asked my dad what restaurant he wanted to go to and guess where he chose. Chuck-a-rama.  Yes, chuck-a-rama, you read that right. He could’ve gone to any restaurant he wished, but he chose chuck-a-rama. Growing up, on a rare occasion we went out to eat at a restaurant as a family(my dad is super frugal), we always went to chuck-a-rama.  The only thing I want to do with chuck-a-rama is to chuck it!  But father’s day weekend it was, so chuck-a-rama it was.  Do you think I could say chuck-a-rama one more time?
Jay asked my mom if she liked this place and when she told him no, he said, “Oh! then this is where we’re taking you for mother’s day next year!”  Then my mom comes to me and tells me what he said and asks me if he was being serious or joking.  Haha, gotta love my mom.
Then a couple weeks ago Jay comes home beaming and says he got himself a father’s day gift so no need to get him a present.  And guess what it was…

He’s never smiled that big with me in pictures, ever!  I’m starting to get jealous of a vacuum.

He immediately took it out of the box to assemble it and then vacuumed the whole house beaming just like this.  He says he’s always wanted this vacuum and was so happy to get it on sale.  And ever since that day, when I vacuum, he follows me around and asks me how I like the new vacuum, how different and better it is than our old vacuum, and what things I like about the vacuum.  And then he ends up taking the vacuum away from me and finishes vacuuming, while beaming just like that.  Man, I should’ve bought him this vacuum ages ago! What man wants a vacuum for father’s day?  My husband, and probably only him.  And it makes me love him that much more.
I’m grateful for all the great fathers in my life, my dad, my father-in-law, and Jay.  I couldn’t have asked for a better father, a better father-in-law or a better father to my girls.  And I really mean that.  And last but not least, my perfect Father in heaven.  I adore him.

There's a show on TLC about people who collect strange things, and there was an episode about an 11 or 12 year old boy who collected vacuums. He had a massive collection, of really old, rare ones, and he could identify them by how they sounded, it was pretty impressive. Anyway, this reminded me of that show! πŸ™‚

They are really awesome! I love that when I'm vacuuming, you can't smell or breathe in any dust, it goes straight inside and doesn't seep out at all. I think you def. deserve one for mother's day next year! πŸ˜‰

Every Mother's Day we talk about getting one and still haven't.
How do you like it? We gotta find ourselves a house first, then I'm definitely getting a nice vacuum for myself!

You should get it. I LOVE it. It is so much better than our old one, dirtdevil I think it was? One thing I love is how it sucks up everything and never out, so it doesn't get dusty or smell like dust while vacuuming. No need to open the windows to get the dust out of the air! Oh, I saw your mom at Deina's wedding, she told me you're pregnant, wow, congratulations!

Haha, I have to say that this post made me laugh out loud. My dad is also extremely frugal and when I was growing up we only went out to eat once a year and as you might have guessed, it was always Chuck-o-rama. Even now when we get together it's the only place that my parents like to eat. My husband refers to it as "up-chuck-o-rama" ha ha!

father’s day

June 21, 2011~ Etc.

french toast for breakfast
picture with daddy after church
dinner with my parents and jay’s parents
and a picture with my dad
and lately more than ever, i’ve noticed i lack so much as a person.  that i’m so far from the person i’d like to be.  for instance, i’ve been complaining and whining a lot, sometimes out loud, but mostly in my head about what jay could do to make me happier, how happier i’d be if he stopped doing certain things or did more things, but all that does is just get me down.  so as my present to jay, i’ve promised myself and him one thing.  that instead of thinking about what he can do/not do to make me happier, i’ll try to always think what can i do to make him happy? i believe that i’ll be happier that way because self-centeredness is like money, no one can ever do enough for you, there’s always more that you want and you’re never completely satisfied.  so while i can’t control or change another person, i can change myself and my attitude and there’s always something i can do to make him happier.  i can’t promise he’ll always be happy but i can promise him to make him feel better, a little happier, like at times when it’s hard, i’ll be there for him, listen to him, cheer him up by serving him.  and i believe it’ll be a win-win situation for both of us because when i lose myself by serving others and forget about my needs and forget about what others can do for me, but instead think what i can do for others, that’s when i’m the happiest.
it’s worked out great so far, but then again, it’s only been 3 days.  please wish me luck because oh boy, i’ll need it. πŸ˜‰

I think it's great that you've caught yourself complaining and are making an effort to change your thoughts. You're right that we can never really make another person happy. Everyone is in charge of their own feelings. You know what works great though? Everyday, write down at least 5 things that happened that day that you were grateful for. It will seriously refocus your thoughts and you'll start looking for things that are going right. It will change your life, I promise. I'm grateful for your blog, so there's one for me today. πŸ™‚
