Christmas 2013

January 10, 2014~ Etc.

Our Christmas morning started not too early this year, unlike last year when the girls woke us up in the wee hours in the morning.  The girls woke up super early but Jay had them wait until 8 am so that I could sleep a little with the baby, especially since I was feeling pretty sick.  Then he came and gently woke me up, telling me the girls could not wait any longer and their anticipation was making them crazy.
the girls got one present from Santa which was a dollhouse.  it was suppose to be all assembled and painted and ready for them on Christmas morning, but you know, it didn’t happen.
Aiden got some teething toys for Christmas but all he cared about was breastfeeding since he had just woken up and was hungry.
Achilles got a huge chunk of meat as his Christmas present!
we spent the rest of the day cooking for Christmas lunch with my sister and her family and then for Christmas dinner with  my aunt and uncle and my cousins.
and the boys thought it’d be funny to make ridiculous faces for pictures.
my outfit: green coat c/o | plaid peplum top c/o | necklace | jeans | red rain boots
I want Christmas in our family to emphasize on Jesus Christ, love, and service, and not about receiving presents so I told Jay we could only get them one present.  He had a hard time with that since he absolutely loves giving presents, but with presents from both sides of their grandparents, aunts & uncles and cousins and friends, it’s already too many presents!  Next year, we are not getting any presents for the family but will buy toys and other things for an orphanage, and have our family& friends buy things for the orphanage as well instead of giving us presents.  It’s something I had planned to do since I was 16, to make it our family tradition every 4 years when I have a future family.  I’m still trying to convince Jay to agree with me, so follow up with us in a year. πŸ˜‰

Silent follower deciding to speak up! How wonderful your Christmas looks! And I'm dying over you red rain boots right now, I've never seen those ones before! Your present goal is beautiful, good luck with it and I hope you find the Christ centered Christmas you are hoping for! Oh by the way, I think its so sweet that you gave your dog a chunk of meat! awww!

Oh my. That picture of your baby boy yawning? Priceless! It looks like you had a fun Christmas with your adorable little family. Also, that dollhouse is to die for. I can't wait for my daughter to be old enough to get one πŸ™‚

Aww love this post. I just discovered you through another blog and so happy I did. Such a beautiful family and kudos to you on how you view Christmas. This was our baby's first Christmas too and she is too young to really understand the meaning, but I definitely want to teach her the true meaning of the holiday. We plan on making it a point to teach her about giving to others, esp around the holidays for the less fortunate πŸ™‚ We took down our tree last week and our house is such a sad scene now. On another note, SUPER cute outfit!!!

I cannot wait till my bub is old enough to enjoy Christmas like your girls do, and also when I have more kids ^_^

I found that this year we decided only to get gifts for the bubs (my son – 3 months old and my 2 nieces 15 months) and they got extremely spoilt, which was fantastic and shows how much we all love them and want the best for them. But on the other hand I love your idea of donating gifts to an orphanage as they get so much and will they really need it all when there are children who get nothing?

We don't really have orphanages in Australia as those children are fostered by other families, so it would just be donated to charity instead.

Looks like you had a lovely and fun filled Christmas with your family
