Halloween 2013

November 1, 2013~ Etc.

Jay made skeletons with the girls using paper plates
Jay making the Halloween costumes for himself and the girls
a mummy and a bat costume for the girls!
our friends the Spiderman & Superman.
They might’ve gotten their costumes in the boys section at Target.  Size 12.
papa bat and baby bat
a kind stranger took our group picture but it’s cropped, let’s try again
okay, never mind 😀
Since Jay knew I’m hanging on by a thread with juggling three kids, and there was no way I was going to have time or the energy to make costumes, Jay excitedly told me he was going to make their costumes.  The girls didn’t want to be anything pretty or cute, they wanted to be something scary, so they decided on a mummy and a bat.  With no sewing, Jay made his and their costumes using a glue gun, and I think it turned out great!  So we were all something scary, two bats, two mummies, and a black cat.
Trick or treating was a success, we always go to my parents’ neighborhood and it’s the jackpot of all trick or treating.  They hand out full size candy bars, hot chocolate, & scones made fresh on the front door.  We also stop by Jay’s friend’s parents’ house who lives in the neighborhood whom always feeds us all the homemade hot scones we want.  We love Halloween!

Baby Shower

October 29, 2013~ Etc.

I threw my friend a baby shower.  We had make-it-yourself spring rolls, banana creme pie, pani popo, fruit & popcorn.  If you’re wondering what in the world pani popo is, it is a Samoan bread baked in a creamy, sweet, sticky coconut sauce and it is SO good (I’ll post the recipe soon)!  We had the shower just in time because she just had her baby boy yesterday!  Congratulations Jihae, I love you!

Color by Amber photo shoot

October 25, 2013~ Etc.

I worked for Color by Amber before I had the baby(obviously) and it was such a fun photo shoot.  I told you in a previous post how it’s super awkward for me though?  Well, I still don’t tell people about it and get awkward talking about it(blogging is not as bad since I’m not talking face to face with anyone), but what’s more awkward for me are the auditions I go to.
When I auditioned for this commercial, I was feeling a little mortified.  When I walked in to the audition, I couldn’t have felt more intimidated by all the other models I saw.  Not only were they drop dead gorgeous, the shortest one there was 5’11”.  Yes, 5’11”.  They were all very fit and wearing really cute yoga wear with sports bras and here I was wearing a short sleeve t-shirt and black leggings.  Along with my two kids since it was a late notice and I couldn’t find a babysitter.  And here I am at 5′ 3.5″ tall, and did I mention it was my very first audition ever?  I was feeling so out of place and intimidated.  I didn’t think I had a chance at all, and wondered why my agency would even think of asking me to audition.  “Is this a cruel joke?” I even thought to myself.  But I had driven 45 mins. to be there with my two toddlers, so I wasn’t going to go home without trying my best.  I had to memorize a script beforehand and while I was holding my younger daughter and my other daughter hanging onto my legs, I auditioned for the role.  I was so shocked when my agency called me a few days later and told me not only did I get one of three roles, I got the main role!  I still can’t believe that happened.
Moving onto the audition for Color by Amber.  I didn’t see any other models at the audition and only met with the owners and the casting director.  But forward to the day of the photo shoot.  I walk in and once again, I felt so out of place and intimidated like no other.  Everyone was so beautiful, and the shortest model there was 5’9″.  I wondered why they even picked me.  They had hired me to shoot only for one day, and the other, taller models to shoot for 2 days so I figured okay, that makes sense why.  Anyway, it was such a fun photo shoot and towards the end of the photo shoot, the casting director pulled me aside and asked me if I could come shoot the next day also.  That they were going to tell one of the models to not come shoot the next day, and that I was going to replace her spot.  I felt bad for the other model, but was happy to do it again the next day, since they were such great people and a great company.
Here are some of the photos from the photo shoot!

Jay’s Birthday

October 23, 2013~ Etc.

We started Jay’s birthday by having homemade pancakes for breakfast(which is a big deal when I wake up early to make pancakes, despite waking up with a newborn several times a night and being totally hashed in the morning!) before he went to work.  When he got home, we went to eat sushi with our bebes and his brother and one of his best friends.  I was way over-dressed compared to the rest of the party but I wanted to wear this new dress(thank you Choies) and as a stay home mom, I don’t get many chances, dang it!  After sushi, we came home and had raspberry cheesecake ice-cream cake that I made, which is Jay’s favorite.

For his present, I took headshots of our kids the week before and put it in a 3-framer for him to put on his desk at work.  Because you know, the best present I ever gave him was three cute babies.  Hope you had a great birthday hun!
