Date with Ana

July 8, 2014~ Etc.

My little Ana has been looking forward to this date ever since I went on a date with Adi a few months ago.  Every time I asked her what she wanted to do for our date, she said “The same thing as you and Adi.”  So we went to Gloria’s Little Italy where Ana picked out a dessert & a gelato of her choice.  While we were eating our dessert Ana said to me, “Mommy, I am so happy I got to come here with you.” and reached out for my hand.  She squeezed my hand for a long time while we ate dessert and talked and I wished I could freeze the moment forever.  I love this girl.
Then we went to BYU’s Bean museum afterwards because I knew Ana would love it and they just happened to have their grand opening that day.  We walked around the whole museum two times and rode the biggest elevator we’ve ever seen.  After the elevator door closed and we were the only people in it, I immediately started spinning and Ana excitedly followed after me.  We spun around until the elevator stopped and we were so dizzy.  I guess the dizziness continued to follow Ana because as soon as she got in the car to go home, she fell asleep.
I hope my daughters will always go on dates with me and never be too embarrassed to hold my hand or give me kisses in public.  I will cry the day they stop.  For real.

What gives this paranoid mama some peace

July 7, 2014~ Etc.

I consider myself a somewhat paranoid, very attentive mom.  So when Vtech reached out to me and asked me to review their baby video monitor, I had to make sure the baby monitor would be good enough for this paranoid mama.  After reading that it had a bunch of cool features like the camera moves side to side 270 degrees to name just one of many, I was like, ” I want this, I’m in!  Now I can really creep on my kids!”  So I’m excited to tell you about this cool baby monitor.

We have an audio baby monitor that we used with all 3 of my kids before we received the Safe & Sound VM333 video monitor just a couple months ago.  We have chucked the audio monitor away since because video monitor is just so much better!  The biggest difference between an audio monitor and a video monitor is that since we can see right when our baby wakes up and moves around, we can go get him right then instead of waiting for him to wake up, move around, realize that we’re not there and start crying, which takes a few minutes.  And since we go assure him and pat him back to sleep right when he starts stirring instead of waking up and crying, he falls right back to sleep more easily.  It gives me peace and assurance watching him instead of just listening for his whimpers or cries because who knows what he could be doing while he’s whimpering or crying!
Some key features that I love personally are:
• The pan, tilt, and zoom feature: the camera moves up to 270 degrees side ways and tilts 124 degrees up and down.  I feel like the biggest creeper/stalker when I control the camera while sitting in my living room and it tilts and moves around the whole room!  I love it!  It also zooms up to 2x so I can stare at my little precious boy’s sweet sleeping face.  I’m an expert stalker, ya’ll!
• The video is in color.
• I can talk-back on the intercom so my baby can hear my voice.  My 5 and 6 year old love this and use it like a walkie talkie.
• When the camera detects any movement in the room, it will alert me with a beep.  I love this since I don’t have to stare at the screen every minute, and the alert sound helps me to not miss a thing.
• I have the option of buying up to 4 cameras with just the one parental unit I have.  I can put the other cameras in other rooms so I don’t have to be moving the camera from room to room, but also so that I can stalk my husband and my two kids!  If I send my girls to their rooms to clean their rooms, I can keep an eye on them and if they’re not cleaning their rooms and just playing around, I can talk on the monitor and keep them in check!  I can view one camera, or up to 4 cameras at once.
• It has a temperature indicator to make sure my baby isn’t too hot or cold.
The funny thing is, when I received the monitor and excitedly showed it to my husband, he was like yeah yeah, whatever, that’s cool that you’re excited.  But as he started using it, he kept telling me, “Okay, I won’t lie, this monitor is pretty cool.”  And now he uses it more than I do!  He always has it next to him no matter what he’s doing.  He takes it to the bathroom with him, when he’s lifting weights in the garage, in fact he has it right next to him as I’m typing right now.  See, I just took this picture below without him knowing.

Would you consider yourself a paranoid parent?  What are some things you do out of paranoia?

Sunday Best with my girls

July 7, 2014~ Etc.

our dresses c/o Flor De Luz Shop
My girls and I were triplets in our Mexican dresses to church last Sunday.  I love the embroidered detail, it’s even more exquisite in person!  I altered my dress and posted the tutorial last week, and it’s become one of my favorite Summer dresses.  I mostly wear dresses in the Summer because it’s so much more comfortable than pants or shorts and it’s so much cooler!  Anyone else a dress-wearing lover like me?

  • ID window
  • 2 photo slots for your tots

A beautiful Mariluz dress of your choice in color and size from Flor De Luz Shop,
I am obsessed with embroidered clothing, always have been and this dress is so beautiful!  I own this Mariluz dress in white and I love that I can also wear it when I’m pregnant in the future.  It’ll make such a cute maternity dress as well.  The detailed embroidery is exquisite and looks even more beautiful in person.  I had the pleasure to meet the owner of the shop, Nassari and she was so sweet and such a fun person to talk to.  She goes to Mexico every several weeks and brings back the beautiful dresses for women and girls, as well as bags & blankets.  See the Mariluz dress in little girls sizes here, it’s adorable!
and a $50 giftcard from Albion Fit, a total worth of $270!
Remember when I went to a Swimsuit Soiree by Albion Fit and got to choose a swimsuit from their new collection?  The Antiqua floral suit was my favorite and the swimsuit I picked.  While it is a two-piece, I feel more modest when I wear this than a lot of my one-piece swimsuits or tankinis because of the high bust line and the modest high-rise bottoms.  I went swimming with my 3 kids yesterday and the design makes it so there’s no need to adjust constantly or need to pick my wedgie while running around by myself with 3 kids.  Yes, yes, I said wedgie, you know you love it.  The floral print is beautiful and the quality is great, it’s one of my favorite suits I own.
To be the lucky winner of this giveaway worth over $270, fill out the rafflecopter below. Best luck everyone!
