Random thoughts about life part one – what happens to your boobs afterbreastfeeding

August 14, 2014~ Etc.

Isn’t the title of the post just so enthralling?  Random thoughts about life part one, by Sarah Tyau.  It’s not written by a celebrity, not from some very interesting and cool and famous person, but just me, little ole me.  Also, part one means there’s more to come!  Woo hoo, I bet you guys are just sitting on the edge of your chair in anticipation for part 2!

I have had 3 thoughts on life lately.  Two are analogies, and one is a lesson I learned.  In part one of our exciting segment, I’d like to share what happens to the mother’s breasts after she weans her baby from breastfeeding, in the from of an analogy of a bread dough.

so it goes from this:

to this:

Am I right, or am I right?  Can I get some mothers’ amens up in here?

“Comfort Me” Giveaway with Saranoni, Kathyandflick & Katykristin

August 13, 2014~ Etc.

We have an awesome giveaway for you this week where one winner will win a adult blanket and a toddler/teen blanket of their choice from Saranoni, custom made shark book from KathyandFlick, and a doll of your choice from KatyKristin, a total of $240 value.

Let’s take a look at each shop:

Saranoni

When a company contacts me to see if I’d like to do a review on their product, I start out by saying, “Hmm, let’s really see if it’s an awesome product that I would really want.”  and dig into their website to learn all about the product.  I have a policy that I only feature items that I love on this blog, and if I don’t fall in love with it, I contact the company and politely and apologetically tell them I won’t be featuring their products/company on my blog(it’s happened a few times actually, and sometimes I even offer to pay for it because I feel bad).  So I am always very picky with what products I agree to receive because I know if I won’t like it, I won’t post it and I feel bad for that company.  So just in the future, know that I turn down quiet a bit of companies that contact me,wanting to send me products because what’s the point in receiving something, even if it’s for free, if I won’t like it and use it?  That’s a waste of time on my part and for the company.
So when Saranoni contacted me, I thought, “Hmm, is it really the softest blanket in the world like you claim?  Hmmm?”  Okay, I can’t find anywhere on their site now that claims they’re the softest blanket so I don’t know where I got that idea, but it doesn’t matter because I am here to claim to the world that it really is the softest blanket in the world!  Well, that’s silly you might say.  Have I tried every blanket in the world?  Yes, I have.  No, I am joking, of course I haven’t.  But I can’t imagine a blanket being any softer, smooth or cozy!
My 6 year old daughter always tells me she doesn’t have anything that comforts her.  She has never found a blanket or a doll that comforts her, so I was hoping this soft blanket would comfort her, and just as I was hoping, the first thing my daughter said was, “Mommy, this blanket comforts me!” and she has named it spotty.  My other daughter who can’t live without her old blanket said she now has 2 favorite blankets.  She has named it fuzzy.

I chose the Ivory wave/gingersnap wave for myself and a Gray stripe XL throw for my husband because they’re both neutral colors and it will match with our bedspreads or in our living room if we want to use it as a decorative/guest throw.

Kathy and Flick
This quiet shark book is perfect for bedtime reading and my favorite, at church.  The book comes with a cute little shark and the shark can hide in each individual pocket that’s on every page in different “hiding spots” such as a boat, a sea wave, a cave, and a treasure box.  My favorite game to play with my 12 month old with the shark book is to hide the shark in one of the hiding spots and have him flip through the pages to see how fast he can find it.  It’s like a hide and go seek with the shark, and he loves it!  I also love quiet books because it can be rolled up or bend, making it fit just right in the crevice of my diaper bag.
Katy Kristin
My daughter chose the Pippi rag doll, probably because Ariel and Merida are her favorites Disney princesses and they both have red hair.  She loves her doll, she’s been sleeping with it every night and carrying it around with her wherever she goes.  It doesn’t have any choking hazards such as buttons on the doll, and I love that it’s machine washable.  It’s made of soft cotton, muslin and fleece and it’s durable and adorable!  I love the vintage fabrics on the doll , the bird print is my favorite.  KatyKristin has been featured in the current issue of Mollie Makes U.S Edition.

Sunday Best and my new favorite online store!

August 11, 2014~ Etc.

top: Target | floral pleated skirt | bag: Brahmin(similar) | shoes: Thredup | pave coin necklace: PaveMaison | bracelet: J.Crew
I’ve been looking for a gold pave coin necklace and finally found one at PaveMaison.  It’s simple yet elegant and fancy.  And I got my shoes for $15 from a store I just found out about, Thredup.  It’s an amazing store that sells gently used designer brand clothes at an awesome price!  It’s basically an awesome thrift store that’s online.  It’s my favorite store to shop right now and I’ve been telling my friends about it, it’s that good!  I am not getting paid to promote the site, I genuinely really love it(I wouldn’t be promoting any site unless I love it, whether it was sponsored or not).  I love the idea of shopping at thrift stores but hardly go in the store because it’s overwhelming with so many items that you have to sort through.  But with shopping online, you can filter it by brand, size, color, or categories, it makes it so easy!  I also hate the smell of clothes from thrift stores, the “used clothes” smell, but you get a cleaned, no-smell clothes from Thredup, I love it.  You do have to scroll through quiet a lot before finding an item you like, at least that’s how it is for me, since there’s a ton of items but it beats going into the store and rummaging through one by one.
I’ve made two orders already and found awesome deals.  I got these shoes for $15 and all my items I received are practically brand new, some brand new with tags attached.  I also got two pairs of gold shoes from BCBG, a J.Crew army vest for my daughter for $18, GAP overalls for my son for $3, Seven for all mankind jeans for $38, Nike apparel for under $10, among many more.  I’m a little addicted!
If you click on this link Thredup and then use the code: BTX7Y9, you’ll get 40% off your first order!  Or use code: B2S5XC for $20 off $100.  Anyway, that’s enough of my love for this store for today. 🙂

*If you click on the Thredup link, I will earn a $10 credit to my account from your first purchase.  You get 40% off, and I get $10 store credit, we both win! 🙂

My little comedian

August 8, 2014~ Etc.

I posted this on my Instagram yesterday, but I love it so much I need to blog about it and tell the story in more detail.  My 6 year old daughter Adi texts daddy everyday using the IPad when he’s at work.  It’s usually when I am putting Aiden down for a nap, when she asks her dad if she can have a snack.  Yesterday the day started as normal, her first text to him was “Can we have capre sun(capri sun)?”  But then things quickly changed and she decided to play a trick on daddy.

Her text says, “Jay i mise you do you wont to cotl wen you are home From sarhe.”  Translating, “Jay, I miss you do you want to cuddle when you are home, from Sarah.”

When I came out of the room after putting Aiden to sleep, Adi said to me, “Mom, I saw that you texted dad!” and showed this to me.  I cracked up so hard and couldn’t stop laughing!  I told her, “Adi, you are so funny!”  and she said, “Huh? No, you texted this to dad.  I didn’t, you did!” and won’t even admit that she did it and is still adamant that it was me.  This funny girl.  She is so much like her dad!

To make things even better, I uploaded this screenshot on IG and FB and my husband commented, “Oh that was adi? I thought it was you trying to pretend you’re Adi, oh man I’m dying now!!!

This girl is good.  We better watch out with this one!
