Jay's Birthday

November 12, 2014~ Etc.

Remember how I told you I ruined Jay’s 30th and the 31st birthday?  See the post here.  Every year Jay brings it up and reminds me which I rightfully deserve I guess, but come on man, it’s time to move on!  Forgive and forget!  Anyway so now on his birthday, or the birthday week, I am extra sweet and extra nice to him.  And remind myself that every day of our lives only happen once.  And it’s such a waste of time to be spending the day you’ll never get back with any negativity in your heart.
Jay’s brother treated us to one of our favorite restaurants The Trolley’s which was a pleasant surprise and we ate so much, we were all so full and so content.  Then we came back home to some ice-cream cake and after we put the kids to bed, we watched a movie together.  Every year I want to throw him a party and invite all his friends over but he always refuses.  So we spent the day low key, just the way  he liked it.
Marriage is sometimes difficult, just like all the things that are worth while.  But the bad times are only a few compared to the wonderful times we have together.  I am so grateful I have a husband who challenges me to be a better person, whether it by encouraging me by bringing out the best in me or downright annoying me and bringing out the worst in me so I have to learn to let it go and forgive haha.  But I love him so much and I need to do better in showing it in my words and my thoughts and in my actions.  Happy birthday Jay, I love you!

Our Sunday Best

November 10, 2014~ Etc.

Am I the only one obsessed with my daughter’s outfit?  I wish it was in my size!  She thought it was the ugliest outfit however and I had to bribe her to wear it to church for her Primary program.  What was the bribe you ask?  That she can go to the dollar store and pick out any two items. πŸ˜€
His outfit: vest : gap | t-shirt | leggings | moccasins
!function(d,s,id){var e, p = /^http:/.test(d.location) ? ‘http’ : ‘https’;if(!d.getElementById(id)) {e = d.createElement(s);e.id = id;e.src = p + ‘://’ + ‘widgets.rewardstyle.com’ + ‘/js/shopthepost.js’;d.body.appendChild(e);}if(typeof window.__stp === ‘object’) if(d.readyState === ‘complete’) {window.__stp.init();}}(document, ‘script’, ‘shopthepost-script’);

My outfit: white top: h&m | cardigan : gap | skirt: banana republic | bag: brahmin | boots: frye

The School Fair

November 10, 2014~ Etc.

striped chiffon top | jeans: 7 for all mankind
I tried to get a picture with Aiden but he would not stand still!  He’s 15 months and this stage is my favorite stage but also the hardest stage for me.  15 months to about 2 1/2 yrs. old.  I love that they can’t talk back, and they’re just learning to talk and every word they say just melts my heart but it’s hard not being able to understand what they want and it’s frustrating for them to not be able to communicate what they want, and they’re too young to negotiate which leads to meltdowns over really little things.  But when my kids have major meltdowns and act like their world is over and it seems so funny and ridiculous at the same time, I remind myself that “Hey, this might seem so little but it’s a big deal to them.  This is the worst thing that has happened to them in their whole entire life.”  Whether it be not getting a second scoop of ice-cream or no 3rd book at bedtime, it”s the worst thing that’s happened to them so far in their lives!  Haha, then instead of getting irritated, their overreaction just seems adorable.  What a wonderful childhood our kids have these days, right? πŸ™‚

Not a costume party

November 5, 2014~ Etc.

The moment you walk into a Halloween party all dressed up as Maleficent with giant 6 ft. wide wings, all ready to party and get down on the floor…. and realize it’s not a costume party.  Or a dance party.  Yes, this really happened to me last week.  One of my most embarrassing moments to date.
To make it worse, it was a bloggers party which means picture taking from plethora of bloggers nonstop and them posting it all over on their social media.  I am so glad I brought my friend Mollie who innocently dressed up after I told her it was a costume party.  Sorry Mollie.  But I am so glad you were there with me as Cleopatra.
the photobooth backdrop wouldn’t fit my 6 ft. wings so they turned it side ways but it still was too small.
this lady walked into the party later on and I was so happy to see another person in a costume!  I happily went up to her to introduce myself and told her I was so happy to see another blogger dressed up.  Then she says she was just at a costume party and didn’t feel like changing……
It’s been 5 days since the party and I still cannot stop laughing about the #notacostumeparty!  We saw some people walk in the party and I was like, “Why aren’t they wearing a costume?” and started getting worried. I expected like a dance party with loud music but walked in to a small group of bloggers sitting quietly on the tables. I asked two girls that were by the sign in table, “Is this the bloggers party?” they said yes. “the one called day of the bloggers party?” they said yes. still clinging onto any chance of hope I asked, “the one@mymommystyle is hosting?” they said yes.  This was all while I was laughing hysterically. After they said yes the 3rd time, I started laughing so hard I had tears streaming down my face for a couple of mins.!  Literally tears dripping down my face because I was laughing so hard.  My laughter was caused by 20% shame, 30% humiliation and 50% hilariousness. But I said to myself, “You know what?  This is so utterly embarrassing but whatever.  I’m going to own it and rock this costume!”  Then I tried to discreetly walk amongst the crowd and sit in the corner of the tables but people clapped and screamed while we sat down.  And I kept bumping into everyone’s shoulders the whole night and had to learn to walk like a crab the remainder of the party.
What would you have done if you walked into a party dressed in your costume but it wasn’t a costume party?

Halloween Day

November 3, 2014~ Etc.

On Halloween morning I frantically finished my son’s raven costume(I’m not the only one who procrastinates every year, right?) before going to see our oldest at her school’s Halloween parade.  Afterwards, we went to Jay’s work for their Halloween party.

this is the best picture I could get of him, he’s constantly moving!
Then we finished the night trick or treating!  I love having kids because I absolutely love trick or treating!  I’ll be pretty sad when they get older and they would rather go with their friends. πŸ™ We go trick or treating at my parents’ neighborhood and they’re absolutely the best.  They give out full size candy bars, one house always makes hot scones right on their front porch, and we stop by Jay’s friend’s house and they always invite us in for some giant hot scones to warm us up before we head back out for some more trick or treating.  The weather was perfect and it was such a beautiful night.  Hope you had a happy Halloween!
