Almost broke my face!

January 9, 2009~ Etc.

We went sledding on New Year’s day.It was a normal day, a ton of people were there with their friends and fams to join in on the fun.
My brother Joseph just in case you’re wondering. He’s only a year shy from getting his Ph.D at Cornell University but came to UT for now to take a little break. Have I ever mentioned I have 2 more brothers who graduated from Cal Tech and Harvard? One’s taken but two of my brothers are still single. wink wink* I would turn around to look at Adalie while we were going down and she was smiling and loving it. Since all the cold snow would splatter all over my face and not hers, what is there not to love?
All bundled up.

I miss you Pearl!
So this picture was taken right before our “could have been” HUGE accident. We decided to go down just one last time just the two of us and when you got a 200 lb. man sitting on the sled with you, you go down pretty fast and far. So before we went down, we both said to each other, “Let’s make sure we don’t hit that slope over there.” and tried to steer away from the slope someone had built earlier but of course we hit it. We didn’t hit it full on but we did catch the edge of it which made us jump a little in the air and mislead our direction towards the right, right into where this giant tree was. It happened so fast and we were going so fast the next thing I know is I see one of the major branches 4 ft. away from me right at my face level. I thought with fear, ‘Shoot, I’m going to hit my head and get seriously injured.’ when I feel a hard push from behind me to the left which made me duck my body and go under the branch, missing it by just a few inches. I turned around immediately to see if Jay was alright and I see in slow mo (why do things like this always happen in a slow mo?) Jay hitting the trunk of the tree from his whole right side. Him pushing me to the left made his body go to the right, thus causing him to run right in the smack of the tree trunk poor guy.
His whole right side was a little sore that day but I don’t know how much he was hurt since he never complains about pain. All I can say is, I used to always say how Jay is my lifesaver since I cannot imagine my life without him and I would’ve been miserable but now I can say he saved my life. Literally! He is basically my hero.

And yes mom, I won’t go sledding again while I’m prego, don’t you worry. πŸ˜‰

I love my sis

January 9, 2009~ Etc.

My sister, David and their little girl Ellis came down for a few days from California during the new years weekend. I love my sister to death and it’s always so nice seeing her, I only wish we lived closer to each other. πŸ™
Adalie was born 6 days earlier than Ellis and we thought since they’re older they would have a blast playing with each other and Adalie being her usual outgoing self tried to play with Ellis and always followed her around and would talk to her but Ellis is more independent and doesn’t like other babies. But Adalie kept trying and would walk up to her and tilt her head sideways and smile at Ellis but that soon stopped after Ellis pulled on Adalie’s hair super hard. Adalie just stood there frozen and didn’t know what to do and when Ellis finally let go of her hair, she looked at my sister and puffed up her lips and started crying. I guess there is a first time for everything huh? After that, Adalie stopped trying to play with her. πŸ˜€ Maybe next time Adalie.

We were so happy we got to celebrate David’s birthday together!
With cutie Ellis. On New Year’s Eve, we had my sister’s family, Joseph and Sora over for dinner and then watched a movie together and when it was about a minute before the countdown to new years, Jay stopped the movie and tried to turn on the t.v but it didn’t work for a few mins. So we missed the countdown haha. When you’re married with kids, it just isn’t that big of a deal anymore. But we toasted to a good health and happiness over some cold duck sparkling cider.
Happy New Year!

So mean I know.

January 8, 2009~ Etc.

So Adalie walks all the time now and it’s crazy that she started her three steps in HI and by the time we were about to come home, she was walking like crazy! It’s so fun to see how fast they pick up on things or learn new things.

This is a video of me trying to bribe Adalie to walk by giving her some crackers. She half screams and half laughs as I walk back farther away from her to get her to walk more. Haha I’m so mean.

January 5, 2009~ Etc.

Sorry about lagging on the blogging. We got back from Hawaii safe n sound and what can I say, I want to move there! I told Jay I could never live in La’ie and that held true even last Christmas but this time it was different. I think being a mother now and having another one on the way, I’m more family oriented and more down to earth whereas in before, I was like “there’s no way I could live in that country! I would have to drive an hr. every time I want to go to the mall or a restaurant!” A big reason is that Adalie loved it so much and I miss taking her on a walk or bike rides everyday to find roosters or dogs. Jay says he thought he couldn’t love me any more than he already does but after saying I could live there, he says his love for me grew so much more. πŸ˜€

We didn’t send out a Christmas card this past year like we wanted to because we wanted to take a family picture in HI on the beach and so we decided to send out a new year holiday greeting later on but um…the pictures didn’t turn out the way we wanted them to due to Jay’s swollen eyes caused by allergies. All the pictures of us facing the camera we can’t use because Jay looks stoned or just not all there, you take your pick. πŸ˜‰ We did post the ones where we’re all looking sideways or of our backs and that’s as good as it’ll get and I have to be happy with that. πŸ™ Maybe next year…

And being there while prego and in the intense humidity my legs and everything else did swell up extra 20 lbs. (plus the 6 lbs. I gained there!) but I still loved it. Man what excuse will I come up with next Christmas for my holiday lbs.? Haha but seriously. I felt huge. And my belly is as big as last time when I was 9 months with Adalie. Anywho I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and happy happy new year to you all! May all your wishes come true this year.
