date w/ my husband

December 10, 2010~ Etc.

we don’t go on a lot of dates ever since we had kids
partly since i’m a paranoid mother who would totally get
a hidden camera in a heartbeat if we ever hired one.

so we always ask our married friends who we completely trust

which we feel bad asking so it hardly ever happens.
last weekend jay’s little brother came over to hang out
with his friends and after jay and i watched what would you do
(our first time and i don’t think it would be the last)
jay said, “let’s go get yozone.”
i thought, “wait, but the kids are sleeping…”
then i realized his little brother is here!
his brother is here all the time and we’ve never
took advantage of this before!

i think it’s very important to have alone time
with just you and the husband regularly.
i should go buy a hidden camera so we can go out
more than just once every 3 months.
which reminds me of what i’ve been wondering…
how much do you pay your babysitter?
do you pay your close friends and family also? and
would you get a hidden camera when hiring a babysitter?
is that ethical or is it wrong.
i’ve just heard of too many horror stories
even when hiring kids they’ve watched grow and know really well.
and we’ve never hired a real babysitter before
and i have no clue how much to pay them.

adalie’s christmas present

December 8, 2010~ Etc.

i took my 3 yr. old to the dentist last week and found out
that she has 8 cavities. yes you read that right, eight.
and it’ll cost over a grand to get it fixed. i was not happy.
but the upside to this is that we’ve been excellent at
giving them flouride and brushing their teeth at least
twice a day ever since. it was a lesson worth a $1,000.

but she is so cute and i love her.
ana felt left out and wanted pictures with mommy too.

and has any of your husbands ever complained of growing pains?
my husband thinks he’s growing. no, seriously.
he’s in his late twenties and last night he was so sore.
not his muscles but his bones he says.
i kept laughing and he googled and you can have growing pains
until you’re 55! WHAT? i want some of that!
i couldn’t stop laughing all night because he never ever
complains of pain even when he had a broken finger,

a sprained back so bad he couldn’t move for 3 days,
cut himself deep while renovating,
BUT
he whined, groaned and complained all night last night because
of his “growing pains”.
so i gave him a long, deep massage and we both fell asleep happy.
he cracks me up.

and more items added to the great sale at S.T Collection!

news about my store

December 3, 2010~ Etc.

i have some exciting news.
i just ordered a bunch of stuff to make for my store s.t collection.
what is it you ask?
HEADBANDS!!!
i want to sell jewelry as well like necklaces and rings
but we’ll see how my headbands go first.
(i did order a set of rings to make though)
so i’m trying to get rid of the clothes i have right now at s.t collection.
so everything’s marked down from the original price of $36-$38
down to $19.99. that’s close to 50% off!
and there’s a deal of $5 flat shipping. now that’s a deal.
quantities are limited so go check out s.t collection right now!
and here are some pictures of adalie.
i dressed her and she loved the outfit so much
she asked me to take some photos of her.

does the picture on the very left remind you of anything?

she wanted me to take a picture with her. can you tell i didn’t want to? 🙂

adalie: “mommy? you’re a super good mommy. you’re the best mommy i’ve ever had.”

(when she was jumping on the bed and stepped on my arm
i said to her, “ouch, you just stepped on my arm adi!”) and she said,
“mommy, watch where you put your arm next time.”
ah. she has so much character and personality, i love it.
i’m going to my annual secret santa GNO tomorrow and i’m very excited.
here’s to a fun weekend!

christmas spirit-white chococolate macadamia popcorn

December 2, 2010~ Etc.

to get in the christmas spirit

we made white chocolate macadamia popcorn.

oh. we also made pumpkin pie with whip cream before that.
how to make white chocolate macadamia popcorn:

white chocolate chips, popcorn kernels, and macadamia nuts.
pop the popcorn
melt the white chocolate in the microwave

then pour it over the popcorn and mix in the macadamia nuts.
chill in the refrigerator for 15 mins.
i shamelessly admit i ate this huge bowl in 2 days.
jay didn’t even touch it and the kids only ate just a little bit
and i’m still not sick of it!
jay put the lights up on our new mini trampoline. isn’t it cute?
thanks uncle spencer and auntie megan!

then we put up our christmas tree.
actually, it’s 1/10 decorated because
i just wanted to eat more popcorn and
the rest of the family got sick of decorating it.
i have a feeling it’s gonna be like this
for the rest of the year.

thanks giving

November 30, 2010~ Etc.

the giveaway winner is:

congratulations selina!
please email me your choice of item and address to sarahtyau(at)gmail.com.

every year on thanksgiving, we go to jay’s grandma’s sister’s house(got it? :).
we look forward to it every year because they’re one of the sweetest people
and they sure know how to make good thanksgiving food.
and i made sure i wore stretchy pants.

mikey didn’t waste any time meditating as soon as we were done eating.

the girls eating the pumpkin pie. or just the whip cream.

then adalie wanted to dance to just the way you are by bruno mars, her favorite song.
sweet ariana copying adalie’s sweet dance moves.

here’s my two girls side-busting and ariana once again trying to copy her big sister’s pose.
awkward picture? why, yes it is.

then approxinately 4 hrs. later we had thanksgiving again!
we had a small get together with our friends.

ariana repeated the words “num num” all day (she thinks that’s how you say yum yum)
and that morning we woke up and looked at the snow outside and i said,
“hi, snow!”
then adalie said to me, “mommy you silly, snow can’t talk back to you,
cuz it doesn’t have eyes, nose, mouth, or ears!”
and as we were watching the soup boil the other day, she said to me,
“haha ha! mommy look! the soup’s fut futing!”
oh they sure make me laugh.
life is so beautiful with kids.
