My Wifey’s Bday

January 7, 2011~ Etc.

Sarah’s Bday always creeps up on me so quick. The holiday madness is just finishing when “BOOM” it’s the wifey’s Bday. It never helps that her Bday is also one of my busiest days at work. Excuses aside, I’m glad that I got to spend another Bday with her. I know we’re both not perfect and we both have a lot of growing to do, but sometimes, just the fact that we’re growing older together brings a certain peace to mind that helps negate the day to day grind of life. I don’t know how many married couples do this, but it’s funny how I usually just buy my own presents for my Bday and she buys her own presents for hers. She just wanted to shop this year and I guess it saves me from having to wrap presents, but I wanted to give her a shout out so bear with me, here we go:

-It’s reassuring that since I’m in my “late” twenties, Sarah is also now officially in her “late” twenties as well. But despite starting to get up there in age, she still has a stunning smile coupled with a youthful appearance. I’m grateful for her being a hottie tottie with a naughty body!

-The married weight that I’ve put on the past couple years is attributed to her awesome cooking. I know it’s hard to come up with dinner menus (and if anyone has suggestions on how to streamline this process, please share) and then go grocery shopping and then cook super good meals every nite with the girls trying to “help you” but I do appreciate all the good grub!

-I remember when we were dating and I looked in her room and couldn’t see the carpet with all her clothes laying all over and a closet with bare hangers and I thought “oh no” but I will say that she makes such a conscientious effort to be clean now and have a clean house, especially at the start to this new year that I seriously need to thank her for making such a huge change in her habits to accomodate mine. That just shows her unselfishness and willingness to put others needs before hers.

-I admire her drive and desire to own her own clothing store. She has talent and has learned a lot about business and what it takes to succeed.

-She has a great talent for sewing and it just shows her creativity and ability to break things apart and put them back together again which is evident in all of the really fabulous items of clothing she constantly puts out.

-She’s a great mom. The girls are at an age where it’s either BFF or WW3. Last night, they were World War 3’ing it and just screaming and crying trying to vie for Sarah’s attention and instead of getting frustrated after dealing with it all day, she said something to the effect as “I should appreciate this time because down the line when they’re older, they won’t want to come and spend all this time with me all the time” I thought that was a very astute thought and appreciate her seeing the glass half full instead of half empty. Her optimism in situations where many would go crazy makes me appreciate the way she views life.

-She’s a great wife. I appreciate her patience with me, I know I have a lot to work on as a husband and as a person, but I appreciate her being understanding and loving me for who I am. She always does things with me in mind and always builds me up. She uplifts me and helps me be a better person just by waking up. She also is great at fulfilling #1 for being the “irresistible wife” haha

-She has a special spirituality to her and her testimony is not just something she says but something she lives by and it helps me realign my values and standards to live a more fulfilling life. She’s good at deep talk about this kind of stuff.

-She has a great sense of humor and makes me laugh daily. I especially love in our house when we share our “BIG HEAD” moments which basically means talking yourself up like you’re the shiz cause a complete stranger stopped sarah to tell her how beautiful she is(which happens all the time, no joke), or a lady at the mall told her she had the most perfect body she’s ever seen, how guys called her the “the hottest asian on campus” or how she still gets hit on by men ages 3-80 all the time or someone told me “I have the build of a star football player” and the other person that’s listening leans to one side to give the person talking room for their big head and then dramatically acts like their head is getting pushed up against a wall and they can’t breathe cause the big head is taking up all the room in the room. Its pretty funny, my description doesnt do it justice. But Sarah’s pretty humble about it and never tells anyone else about her “BIG HEAD” moments and she always says how it was a way overstated compliment and how she doesn’t get or see what others say sometimes which I have to disagree. She is the prettiest asian/woman/girl I’ve ever seen.

-She tries to speak pidgeon. Even though she’s not from Hawaii, she can throw down and break down the broken engrish of her husband and always calls flip flops by their proper name: slippers, because that my dear friends, is what they’re called!

-She is a loyal friend. She holds all of her dear friends close and always goes out of her way to accommodate them. She’s a great leader in this regards and she’s always the life of the party!

-She has the same taste buds as me. I love how we go to eat at certain places and we always order the same type of food, many times even the same dish. It’s nice to have someone to share all that food with and someone who I know if I like it, she usually will too! Just goes to show…soulmate!

-She likes to match her clothes with me when we go out. She says I’m the one that copies her, but we all know she loves to be matchy matchy and I’m flattered, really I am. So cutie.

-She’s sacrificed a lot of her dreams or put them on hold for our little family.

I could go on and on, but will end at Happy Birthday Wifey. I love you so much and love growing old with you!

new years

January 7, 2011~ Etc.

jay almost ate it once while trying to run away after lighting the fireworks, (the man in the 1st picture wearing slippers and shorts? yes, that’s him) and if you happened to hear the loud fireworks, i apologize. i felt terrible the whole time because we live by a lot of older people and let’s be honest, i don’t know if the fireworks were quiet legal, shh… we let the kids stay up after midnight, drank sparkling cider(what would us mormons do without them?), watched a movie, ate tons and tons of food and enjoyed each other’s company.
HAPPY NEW YEARS!

my birthday

January 5, 2011~ Etc.

i had a lovely birthday yesterday. i woke up to my favorite breakfast(french toast at magley’s fresh), adalie started preschool which i will post later, and i just wanted to do something simple and something fun for the kids, so we went bowling. turns out, jay made an appointment to go on a date the day before my birthday to the roof restaurant at temple square but he couldn’t find a babysitter so we didn’t end up going. but i thought it was so sweet and it’s the thought and the effort that counts. he got me beautiful roses and threw me a party later that day and as soon as he got from from work he went into his closet and found a shirt that matched mine. everytime people say to us, “oh you two are matching!” he tries to blame it on me but no one ever believes him. i think we’ve got to be the only couple where nobody believes it when the guy says it was the girl that tried to match.(when we were dating i used to get so embarrassed but now i think it’s absolutely adorable.) thank you hun for a wonderful birthday!

and to celebrate my birthday, i’m having a 20% off sale at S.T Collection.
it’s valid until january 6th, thursday.

my two little performers

December 28, 2010~ Etc.

we went to our ward christmas party which was a dinner and a talent show.i thought it would be adorable to have my little girls perform something but i was worried they would get stage fright so i decided to sing just in case they would freeze up once on stage. the only problem with this is that i don’t sing. not in front of people anyway. the last time i sang a solo was in 5th grade for my brother’s farewell(he was about to leave on a LDS mission), which i did horribly and cried in the middle of it to the very end partly because i was sad to see him leave, and partly because i sucked and i knew it. so if it wasn’t for my kids, and my goal to face my fears, i would’ve never done it. up to the last 10 mins. i was debating whether to do it or not but then i thought what’s the worst that could happen and just did it. i sang to the song let it snow since it’s upbeat so the kids could dance to it but mostly because it’s short. well, to our surprise not only did they dance the whole time i sang, they stayed up on the stage the rest of the talent show and danced to every performance after that. at the end of each performance when people clapped, adi just stood there with her chin down but her eyes up and sparkling as she smiled coyly at everyone while she believed they were clapping for her.
boy, did she love the attention! and nope, it doesn’t stop there, when the show was all over, adalie wanted to sing.
“daddy, why is everyone getting up and leaving?”
“oh, they’re just getting up to clean up the tables. you can still sing adi, they’re not leaving yet.”
“it’s okay daddy, i’ll just wait ’till they’re done cleaning and they sit back down.”
but people didn’t sit back down which made adalie really really sad.
above picture is of her watching people clean up, waiting for them to sit down so she could sing. so we learned something new that night. not only do they not get stage fright WHATSOEVER,
they’re these attention loving/seeking little performers at heart.
they can’t wait ’till next year’s talent show.

p.s to my dear husband: if you upload the video, i will kill you. nothing but peace & love, wifey.
