I saw Mark Zuckerberg!

March 31, 2011~ Etc.

this is my cute daddy
Senator Orrin Hatch interviewed Mark Zuckerberg last week at BYU,
so i went with my dad and jay to the forum and the stadium was packed!
three things i learned from the forum:
1. that mark’s the same age as me.
2. Senator Hatch is pretty funny.
2. he said what I’ve heard many other millionaire/billionatires say which is,
do what you love, do what you’re passionate about.

he seemed like a good guy who is humble and down to earth.
ah.  i wish i had invented facebook.

i seem to attract little kids wherever i go

March 30, 2011~ Etc.

i make friends easily with little kids.  we took the kids to a playground at the mall one day and i was leaning on a fake tree talking to jay when this little girl of 5 yrs. old came behind me and started playing peek-a-boo with me using the tree trunk.  i just laughed and played along but she kept.doing.it.  then started following me everywhere.  then i went to go get a drink and jay told me while i was gone, the little girl went to her parents and said excitedly, “mommy, daddy! i made a new friend!!!”  the parents told her, “oh cool, who is she?” and the little girl said, “I don’t know her name but she’s the same age as me!”
jay thought it was the funniest thing and took many pictures of us and even a video of me asking her how old she thought i was(which was “um…five!”) but we no longer have those on his phone anymore.
a few days ago we went to the kangaroo zoo and this little boy started following us.  i thought he was following my daughters but i quickly realized he was following me.  we would climb the ladder to go down the slide and as soon as we got up and sat down to slide down, he would quickly plop right onto my lap to go down with me.  every single time.  haha it was pretty funny.  he didn’t leave our side the whole time(1 1/2 hours) and he was a little sad when we left before he did.
ana saying, “who is this random kid posing for my picture with my mommy?”
right before the picture was taken, he was hugging my neck from behind.
and these pictures show jay’s incredible photo skills.
haha joking honey, you know i love you.

am i dumb?

March 24, 2011~ Etc.

so i’m a pretty gullible person. okay, i guess very. when i was a senior in HS, a friend convinced me it was the year 2001 when it was actually the year 2002. i believed her for about 3 months until my teacher said to me as i handed her my assignment, “sarah, you wrote the year wrong, you wrote 2001 instead of 2002.”
YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE! πŸ˜›
last summer when we took a family trip with jay’s family to disneyland, we went on a ride called splash mountain. my father-in-law had just come back from the same ride and told us to sit in the very front because you get wet the least if you do. so my mother-in-law and I both being gullible people, i sat in the very front and mom right behind me. after the first fall and getting soaked, i immediately yelled to the back, “did anyone else get wet?” and everybody replied, “nope!”
This is Jay and I believe that Josh and I SPECIFICALLY told you and mom to sit in the back and not in the front, but you two did not believe us. tsk tsk tsk but boy was this funny!
THANKS DAD! πŸ˜›
(and yes that guy in the very back who’s shirtless is my husband.)
so last friday we went up to salt lake to meet jay’s first cousin and her family. he had told me a few days before that his cousin was stopping by in salt lake just for one night with her family so that’s the only night she could meet up. my sister and my brother was visiting this past week too so while i wanted to spend time with them, i said sure and up we went to Gossip, one of our favorite vietnamese restaurant. Once we got there, someone yelled out my name and i looked and it was one of my friends ramona, her husband and her kids. i was pleasantly surprised and asked her, “you come here a lot? this is our favorite place.” then she said, “no, not really. but we came here to see janie!” now, janie is one of my dear friends who i went to college with and she’s in the east coast finishing her school. and i knew she wasn’t coming to UT until june. “janie? what do you mean?” i said. ramona then said, “you know, this is for janie’s shindig or whatever, right?” i just looked at her so confused and puzzled and she looked over at jay who was behind me and she said, “oooohhhhhhh, wait, janie’s in baltimore, right?” “yeah, she doesn’t live here anymore.” i said. then ramona said, “oh, i meant gloria(janie’s little sister), we’re here to see gloria.” and i totally believed her and said, “oh haha i see. yeah we’re here to meet jay’s cousins. gloria’s actually coming down to provo this sunday and we’re having a potluck.”
then i went out to the car to change ana’s diaper when two of my other friends carol and grace pulled up in the parking lot next to mine. so i knew they were here to meet gloria too and i was a little saddened that they hadn’t invited me! but whatever i thought and when carol asked me, “did you get my text? i was wondering if you were coming up here too.” i said to her, “no, i didn’t even know you guys were meeting here. we’re here to meet jay’s family.”
so i was sitting down on the table talking to my friends and waiting for jay’s family to show up. then someone comes behind me and grabs my shoulders so i turn around. and lo and behold, it’s my friend janie. the one that wasn’t coming to UT until june. or so i’d thought. i was so happy and surprised to see her and kept hugging her and laughing. “when did you get here and how long are you here ’till?” i asked. “i got here two days ago, on wednesday night. i’m leaving next wednesday.” said janie. then i gasped and playfully slapped her arm and said, “WHAT? and you wern’t going to see me until this sunday?” knowing now that gloria had planned the potluck for janie. then janie said, “uhhh…no, i am seeing you tonight!” then that’s finally when i realized the whole thing was a surprise! i said to jay, “wait, your cousins are not coming?” and jay just shook his head and everyone laughed.
and that’s when i asked myself for the first time in my life the question, “am i dumb?”
so later that night i asked jay once we got home, “do you think i’m stupid?” and his reply: “no, i don’t think you’re stupid, just slow sometimes.” uh, excuse me? come again?
so i’m writing this to myself and more so defending for myself. i’m not dumb. i’m not! i don’t think i’m einstein but i know i’m intelligent. i’m book smart, i graduated with honors, i’m people smart, i’m social and pick up on emotions quickly and know when to be quiet and when to talk. i have a lot of common sense and wouldn’t unknowingly step out of the line or be inconsiderate or rude. i will admit that i’m not world-smart as in i’m naive but that goes right to how i trust everyone. yes it took me forever to actually get that jay planned this whole thing to be a surprise for me to see janie but it’s because i believed him when he said his cousins were coming and i was so set on that belief that i just couldn’t get over that “fact”! it’s not because i’m slow(thanks hubby), but because i trust people very easily and don’t look for double meanings and it’s hard for me to get over something i believed to be true for so long. does that make sense? yes, it does to me! and that’s all that matters.
this is my beautiful friend janie. and adi drinking boba
and being way too focused on it to pay any attention.
Wifey…you’re not dumb, you’re not slow, you’re smart and intellegent and I think because I’m so trustworthy throws that balance off since you trust me hehe. You might be “slower” at picking up on surprises but thats 100% different than being classified as slow, but that’s a given since I’m pretty good at keeping secrets and surprising you and it adds a lot of fun to our marriage. I love surprising you even if you hate it, I love seeing how giddy and excited you get when that happens, and I do anticipate that anytime I get to surprise you…I WILL!
