breakfast at tiffany’s.

March 22, 2012~ Etc.

as a thank you for updating about the grand opening of tiffany and co.,
guess what i received in the mail!

if you didn’t believe me last time when i told you how jay loves tiffany’s more than i do,
do you believe me now? πŸ˜‰
and yesterday morning we attended breakfast at tiffany’s
for the celebration of their grand opening at the city creek center.

the lady is telling me to look at the ring i tried on through the mirror to see the brilliance of it,
and not looking at me from behind like a creep, just to clarify. πŸ˜€
you can’t see in the pictures but i tried on a yellow diamond ring and a heart bracelet.  jay insisted i try on the heart bracelet and little did i know he planned on buying it for me…….. until he saw the price tag.  hahaha, he was expecting it to be a few hundred dollars but it was a few thousand dollars instead. i thought it was the sweetest nonetheless. πŸ™‚  and i declined his offer on buying me something else(eh hem, cheaper) at the store but instead let him buy me a $20 purse from h&m instead.  am i weird that i never want to buy an expensive name brand? while i love and appreciate their beauty and exquisite details, my goal in life is to actually never buy an expensive designer brand, or have my husband buy one for me(if it comes out of our bank account, then no, I’d rather buy something else.  if i receive it for free though, oh, i’d totally wear it! :).  yeah, i guess i’m weird.  but that doesn’t mean i can’t admire and appreciate them. πŸ™‚
and as you can see, guess who finally shaved!?  i can see his handsome face again!
thank you tiffany and co. and intrepid for allowing me to be a part of this great event!

I am completely jealous. I love Tiffany's. I think it stems from my adoration of Audrey Hepburn and the movie Breakfast at Tiffany's. Who doesn't love Audrey though? You look lovely. That dress is fantastic!

Oh I love tiffany's!! That blue color is one of my favorite colors too. You are wearing the perfect blue dress for that opening!

It's not weird that you don't want to own an expensive designer label. I think it's admirable!! Either way… cute necklace πŸ™‚

That necklace is beautiful! Also, love the dress you wore, perfect choice!

If you don't like expensive brands why did you promote them on your blog???

Sorry I realize that maybe sounded rude. I didn't see the first line where they gave you the necklace for free. I would totally do it for a free necklace πŸ™‚

    Fun!
I love your dress too! So fitting. My brother is getting married and one of their colors is Tiffany blue πŸ™‚ Actually, where did you buy your dress?

Dang I pressed "Publish" too soon and then my comp froze 😐 Anyways, I love the oh-so-perfect color of your dress! I'm w/Emily–where did you get it?! And I'm so excited I'll be checking out CC today πŸ˜€ I agree with you re: designer stuff–even if I had a comfortable amount of money to cushion it, I doubt I'd buy a(n original) designer item for myself, so bravo on your H&M bag! We need more thrifty people like you to blog about that πŸ™‚

Very jealous, I love the colour of your dress too.
I dont know about the promoting a big brand if you dont like them bit, I would probably do it as I love their stuff even though I probably wouldn't buy it myself. I think that if I had enough money to buy a decent tiffany's piece I would get something from a small designer instead and then it would be unique.

Your dress is the cutest and totally matches the store! Where did you get it? And I totally get how you feel about designer brands. I think they are beautiful, and honestly I wouldn't mind owning something like that, but to spend 1,000 on a bracelet or a purse just seems like such a waste (except that's not the word I want because it sounds too mean) to do, when there are other purses and bracelets out there, just as cute for a lot cheaper. haha.

How fun!! Although I do agree with you for the most part, I do think owning a wonderful piece from a designer is okay as long as one doesn't become a slave to design.
    Love reading your posts.
    Thanks.

I do like expensive brands, I just don't want to own one, does that even make sense? haha and yeah, the free necklace was definitely nice. I plan on giving it to my mom. πŸ™‚

Thanks Emily, you are always so sweet. I made the dress. I combined two patterns and changed it up a bit. You should make the same one! I can tell you more about the fabric/pattern if you want to make one! and congrats on your brother's wedding, family's weddings are the best, aren't they? πŸ™‚

Hi, thanks for your comment! And maybe I worded it wrong, I'm exactly like you, I love them but don't want to own one. πŸ™‚ And yes, that would definitely make it more unique and special!

I made the dress, thank you for your sweet comment! And yes, I agree with you about finding cheaper stuff that are just as cute. and that way, you can buy A LOT more too. πŸ˜‰

Hello! I think it's more than okay too! Anything to the extreme is bad, even good things, but owning some nice things are totally fine, it's just one of my goals but that doesn't mean I think every person should have the same goal as me, kind of like someone who has a goal to run a marathon, it's a great goal and it's good for them but that'll never be one of my goals haha. Thank you for your comment!

Beautiful dress!! I adore the colour!!
Unfortunately Tiffanys is an even rarer treat for me living in the UK but when I visited New York I spent over an hour (and over Β£300) in there!!! Lol me and 2 girlfriends all picked the same necklace – completely separately as we were wandering around, and it has lots of happy memories for me πŸ™‚ and I still have the bag box and ribbon! Lol

Ps I'm a new commenter but have been following a couple of weeks. I live you tutorials and lady-like style πŸ™‚

So Pretty, We hope to be having a baby this fall after many IVF attempts its been bitter sweet. I went to a local Tiffany s and I picked out a bracelet and a few baby charms and had the lady write all the # for them on a card. I then gave it to my step daughter and told her provided all goes well and we deliver hand it to her dad. I wanted that as my Christmas gift. It will be my first Tiffany s items !~~~~ Cant wait.

Visiting from "blog stalker" and I can't believe you whipped up that fabulous dress the night before the event. Love the yellow shoes too. You look very pretty. I love name brands but hate the heft in price the "name" adds. That necklace is so cute! I think it's super sweet to give it to your mom. While I can never afford a piece from Tiffany's – if I recieved a gift I would definitely rock it!

I'm absolutely in love with this dress! I'm actually thinking of creating my own dress, and with your post, I was greatly inspired! I'm a beginner in making clothes.. so I was wondering what patterns you used and possibly step-by-step pictures? πŸ™‚
