Almost broke my face!

January 9, 2009~ Etc.

We went sledding on New Year’s day.It was a normal day, a ton of people were there with their friends and fams to join in on the fun.
My brother Joseph just in case you’re wondering. He’s only a year shy from getting his Ph.D at Cornell University but came to UT for now to take a little break. Have I ever mentioned I have 2 more brothers who graduated from Cal Tech and Harvard? One’s taken but two of my brothers are still single. wink wink* I would turn around to look at Adalie while we were going down and she was smiling and loving it. Since all the cold snow would splatter all over my face and not hers, what is there not to love?
All bundled up.

I miss you Pearl!
So this picture was taken right before our “could have been” HUGE accident. We decided to go down just one last time just the two of us and when you got a 200 lb. man sitting on the sled with you, you go down pretty fast and far. So before we went down, we both said to each other, “Let’s make sure we don’t hit that slope over there.” and tried to steer away from the slope someone had built earlier but of course we hit it. We didn’t hit it full on but we did catch the edge of it which made us jump a little in the air and mislead our direction towards the right, right into where this giant tree was. It happened so fast and we were going so fast the next thing I know is I see one of the major branches 4 ft. away from me right at my face level. I thought with fear, ‘Shoot, I’m going to hit my head and get seriously injured.’ when I feel a hard push from behind me to the left which made me duck my body and go under the branch, missing it by just a few inches. I turned around immediately to see if Jay was alright and I see in slow mo (why do things like this always happen in a slow mo?) Jay hitting the trunk of the tree from his whole right side. Him pushing me to the left made his body go to the right, thus causing him to run right in the smack of the tree trunk poor guy.
His whole right side was a little sore that day but I don’t know how much he was hurt since he never complains about pain. All I can say is, I used to always say how Jay is my lifesaver since I cannot imagine my life without him and I would’ve been miserable but now I can say he saved my life. Literally! He is basically my hero.

And yes mom, I won’t go sledding again while I’m prego, don’t you worry. 😉
