Adi’s Bento lunch box

October 2, 2014~ Etc.

Since I was about 12 years old, I dreamed of making cute sack lunches for my kids for school, complete with cute little hand-written notes.  I also envisioned me waiting for them at home when they return from school with yummy, healthy snacks prepared for them in the kitchen, and talking about how their day was while they eat their snacks.  Well, now that my oldest just started 1st grade, I get to live that dream(yes, I’m such a dork)!  So I’ll be having a regular post of Adi’s bento lunch box from now on.
healthy lunch ideas
Fresh avacado w/ sea salt, star-shaped pepperoni & provolone cheese, wheat crackers, fresh strawberries & chocolate covered edamame.

healthy lunch ideas
Teddy bear shaped Nutella & pb sandwich, peaches & apples, corn on the cob, veggie chips & astronaut ice-cream.  I’m a juice nazi but I even snuck root beer in her drink bottle to go with her astronaut ice-cream.

healthy lunch ideas
Babybel cheese & peaches, homemade kale chips, homemade beef jerky, cherry tomatoes, baked egg sprinkled w/ sea salt, & yogurt drink. I see these babybel cheese on other people’s lunch boxes often on social media so thinking it must taste really good, I bought a bag even though it was too expensive(50 cents each). The verdict? it tastes pretty much like mozzarella cheese, and not worth the 50 cents to me.

Looking good! Do you have any tricks to keep things from smooshing around between morning and lunchtime?

I was a sucker too for those stupid cheeses. Kellen wanted them after we saw another kid with them. Then of course after I buy them, she says it's gross and didn't anymore. I like the laughing cow one, the silver wedge? But she just likes a plain ol slice of cheese…Tillamook cheddar!

Oh my goodness! I grew up on babybel cheese. It's one of my favorites. I'm surprised you think it tastes like mozzarella as I don't think it tastes anything like that at all! I do agree with Kea. Laughing Cow creamy Swiss is amazing. I can eat the whole thing as dinner!

    Hi Emily,

The lunch boxes here have not given me any problems with smooshing, maybe because they're all sectioned and hard cover? Hope that helps!
