Today marks our seven year anniversary. We had a conversation we had a few days ago:
Me: “So since we’ve been married for seven years now, do you think the seven year itch is true?”
Jay: “Huh? What’s a seven year itch?”
Sarah: “Some theories say after seven years of marriage, attraction fades and you lose that spark and chemistry. And when divorce is most likely to happen.”
Jay: “That’s dumb. Obviously it’s not true.” (as he draws me in closer to cuddle)
Ever since we first met, we always had this strong chemistry and connection like we’ve never had with anyone else. It seemed like no matter what happened, the universe aligned somehow so that we always ended up being drawn back together. And that bond and chemistry is so much stronger than it was one, two, three, four, five, or six years ago! So obviously that theory couldn’t be anymore wrong!
Here are 7 reasons why I am so glad I married this guy.
1. He treats me like a queen. He spoils me rotten and always has a mindset of, “What can I do today to make Sarah happy? What can I do today to make Sarah’s life easier?” It makes me teary eyed just thinking how good he treats me. I am one lucky lady.
2. When I am away from the kids and he’s watching them, I am in complete peace and trust that he’s taking excellent care of the kids. Better than I would be if I was watching the kids! Everyone that knows him even remotely always tells me how good of a father he is and how they always see him holding the kids, tending to them and playing with them.
3. When I first met him, I didn’t think he would be that smart. Hahaha, that sounds so mean but he looks like a typical jock, and he was always the life of the party, cracking jokes and making everyone laugh. But as I got to know him more, I was blown away at how intelligent he is. He is the most well-rounded, street smart, book smart, people smart, computer smart, math smart, construction smart, common-sense smart, relationship smart person I have ever met. He is just so dang smart and it is so sexy.
4. Everyone at his work place loves him. It’s so comforting to know that his boss and the boss’s boss and so forth love him and always tell him how good of a analyst he is and how grateful they are for him. I take comfort knowing that he would never be fired from his job but they’re always giving him raises and treat him well so that he wouldn’t be tempted to leave to work somewhere else!
5. He spends every spare minute with the kids. While I love my alone time, he would rather spend his alone time with the kids. As soon as he gets home from work, he jumps right in to tending to the kids, helping me cook and clean the house if it’s not done, and just being an awesome husband.
6. He is so funny. Did I tell you he’s MC’d for people’s weddings 7 times? People don’t ask you to be an MC 7 times unless you’re hilarious. He is quick, clever and witty. And he makes me laugh out loud all day long.
7. He is so patient even when I’m being the biggest brat in the world. When I’m tired and hungry, oh boy watch out, I can have the biggest attitude! But he is still sweet to me no matter what and if I step out of the line, he lets me know and keeps me in my place. He has a perfect balance of being sweet, patient, and yet makes me a better person at the same time.
One quality not everyone knows about him is that he’s very dominant. He thinks he’s always right and has to have things his way. Sometimes it drives me crazy but it works out because I’m pretty passive and he is right most of the time. There, I said it Jay! But I know deep down that if I really wanted something my way and feel very strongly about it, Jay would bow down and do it my way. Haha, so yes, I have him under control guys. I let him think he’s the boss but we all know who the real boss is. 😉
I adore you Jay. And I’m crazy about you. I am going to be even more crazy about you in 70 years, so watch out for this old grandma chasing after you!
